The following morning, the scouts tell him that the Courier and her ghoul companion have left. He supposes he understands – there are numerous reasons he can think of that contributed to her abrupt departure, and they all hurt more than he knows they should.
“Joshua?” Daniel's voice moves back into the foreground of Joshua's consciousness as he turns his head to face him.
“I apologise. Continue," Joshua encourages with a lazy wave of his hand. He nods and maintains eye contact with Daniel, but he doesn't really hear him.
That night, he dreams he's burning all over again.

This is another Fallout: New Vegas story I started a long, long time ago. This one is set in a different universe from my other works, with a good karma female Courier who just can't catch a break, and explores why she might side with the Legion. And Vulpes Inculta because... let's face it... I'm Vulpes Inculta trash.
I should probably mention: This series operates under observable New Vegas game canon with regard to the role of women in the Legion--no written lore, no Van Buren (i.e. no priestesses, etc).

Met again out on the Strip, Nipton long behind them. Brought the Mark of Caesar, gave her safe passage to their lands, had someone she was looking for. She came along alright, but maybe Benny wasn't the only reason she showed up to the Fort that day.
His long puppy-dog face and sad blue eyes drive even Couriers crazy, it seems. They had that in common, innocent on the outside, but a certain bloodlust on the inside. It started out sweet sure, but you can definitely say it didn't stay that way.

After a chance meeting in the Ultra-Luxe the Courier finds herself spending more time with Vulpes Inculta travelling the desert before meeting Caesar. The two face challenges and form a relationship that could change the world.
(A Courier fic I've had in my head in a while, to be clear this is a consensual relationship with Vulpes, not a non-con fic.)
