A few days after everything is over, after the battle is won and the murk of Belos’ goop has been cleaned from everybody’s hefty boots, it hits Luz.
It’s not sudden. It’s slow, and daunting. She’s washing the dishes in the morning, and she thinks to herself, quite softly, ‘I was dead, for a while.’
'I was dead for a while, and I’m only still here because - because what? Because a dying Titan gave me that chance?'
And then that’s all she can think about. It’s like the drop of a tap, slowly building. She looks down at the welling pool of - what even am I, if I was dead, and came back, and - she feels something deep inside her snap. Like an elastic band pulled too far. It ripples through her, rolling tide, and she swears that she feels as though she’s crushed by the violent weight of it all.
[Or; Luz coming to terms with the fact she was, however briefly, dead. Amity is there to listen.]

This is common knowledge. Blights are nobility and are supposed to behave accordingly. As such, you aren't supposed to lose your composure.
This is rule one. You don't stumble over yourself, you don't burst into tears, and you're certainly not supposed to be impulsive or ridiculous.
Amity Blight isn't very good at being a Blight. But she tried very hard for a very long time. She carries herself in the perfect little posture that feels like it'll break her back, is either stone faced or grinning smugly, a perfect golden child. She does not cry. She does not whimper. She expresses affection through very, very specific means. All of them are incredibly professional and fitting of a Blight.
• Offering a gift to a friend. A book, a new piece of jewelry, a pie.
• A compliment, professional and impersonal.
• Reassurance when it's needed.
• A small touch on the shoulder. Nothing beyond what is socially acceptable, of course. Because she is a Blight, even behind closed doors. And Blights do not lose their composure.Series

Step one, isolate. There is a simple strategy to it, nothing more than subtle hints. Leave texts on read, be so quiet you might as well disappear, and never ever admit why. Blend into the static and eventually, people leave. End goal accomplished. Marcy Wu is a perfectionist, of course she would master the art of self-isolation. Desolate existence? Not for long, because this is just step one.
