Gentaro has a manuscript he should be working on.
He, rather predictably, doesn't do that.

Summary
A collection of short drabbles I've uploaded onto Twitter that are usually just snippets of bigger ideas I'm probably not going to do anything with. Specific info about each will be written in the notes before every chapter.
20/04/2021:
“You’re very lucky, you know.”
The voice behind him surprises Saburo, spine going ramrod straight at being taken off-guard before he spins around and fixes a suspicious look on one smiling Yumeno Gentaro.
“What are you doing here?” And maybe he’s a little too sharp in tone with that question, but Saburo has every right to be suspicious of an enemy within his territory. If he’s really unlucky the rest of Shibuya division will be hanging around, which means Amemura Ramuda might turn up at their house, and then Ichi-nii will invite him in for dinner. Ugh.
“Is that any way to say hello to someone?” Gentaro asks, voice as airy and light as he must be on his feet to sneak up behind Saburo of all people.

Summary
‘Bloody hell, and I thought I was paranoid. Don’t tell me you really can’t figure out who I am?’
“...you’re the fragment,” Lucien says after a moment, and immediately he feels foolish for overreacting the way he did. This is concerning in a different way, but not so much that he can't deal with it, and the reassurance helps him relax back into his position in the snow. “What is it they keep calling you? ‘Molly’?”
‘That’s Mollymauk to you, thank you very much! Mollymauk Tealeaf. No need to introduce yourself, of course, I already know who you are… Mister Nonagon.’
Lucien thinks he’s alone in his own mind.
He’s wrong.

Summary
And then the wailing starts up again, louder this time, something small and warm bundling into Rei’s legs, and- and he has to stop, a sensation of being incredibly out of his depth overtaking him as a child he doesn’t know curls small fingers into the cloth of his trousers and tries very hard not to cry.
“Dad- you’re okay-” It’s difficult to know what to do in this situation. Rei thinks about how a good father might act here - perhaps kneel down and put his hands on his son’s shoulders; try and comfort him and wipe his tears…
He doesn’t think he can do that. He doesn’t try, either.
Or, Amayado Rei and Yamada Rei are not the same man.

“Let me take you home-”
“What? You think I need your pity, huh?!”
“N-No, that’s not it…! I just-”
His attempt at pacifying the other is interrupted by the sudden growling noise coming from Dice’s stomach, however, Dice's face twisting in obvious anguish in response. When was the last time he had something to eat…?
“...actually, uh, d’you have any food at your place?” Ah. The way to a man’s heart really is through his stomach, hm?
Or, Doppo finds Dice injured in an alleyway and decides to help him out. Things spiral from there.

Summary
Gentaro isn’t sure when his relationship with Jinguji Jakurai turned from ‘occasional visits to Gentaro’s apartment in order to make sure that he wasn’t neglecting himself’ into Jakurai showing up with dinner in one hand and a smile on his face that is nothing short of fond, but he can’t say he hates it. Won’t say he hates it, even, because he really, truly doesn’t.

Summary
Once, about a couple of weeks ago, Gentaro compared extracting himself from his work to waking up after a long night of rest. On some days it’s a pleasant, easy feeling, like emerging from a refreshing dream. On others, it’s as if the dregs of sleep cling to him like fabric, weighing down Gentaro’s bones and eyelids with exhaustion. In all honesty, he just wants to crawl into bed and sleep the upcoming day away before getting back into it, but the scent of smoke beckons him away from the futon - not that there’s a warm body there to curl up against anyway.

Summary
Gentaro calls to him through memories of nets and spears and humans Rei had never seen beauty in before his lover- and as he tilts his head to meet Gentaro’s cloudy gaze he swears he never will again, because what kind of horrible species puts one of their own through what his beloved has had to suffer? They did this to him. It was their fault-
-and god, Rei helped them kill him.

Summary
The older man mouths at him and, perhaps instinctively, Gentaro does the same in return- begging without words for more, something Rei is happy to give him.
His tongue - bitter yet sweet with the taste of alcohol and cigarette smoke together - slips into Gentaro’s mouth and makes him gasp, unsure how to reciprocate and therefore content to just let Rei take the lead. He feels dizzy and overwhelmed, but not necessarily in a bad way. It’s all just... new.

Summary
They aren’t ‘together’ or anything like that, of course. A night of drinking his sorrows away after Doppo had suddenly gone out on a date Hifumi had no prior knowledge of had been interrupted by Gentaro showing up out of the blue, looking for someone to blame for his own loss, because the man the author had fallen in love with had broken his heart without even doing anything except be himself.
So, in the end, they’d decided to do what any two normal, functioning adults wouldn’t do and fucked their issues away for the night.

Summary
Everyone knew the doctor was nice to look at. But like this; with brown hair spilling down and over his shoulders, a cigarette held between soft lips and blood drying on pale hands? Yes, in Yuuya’s eyes, Shuu was most certainly pretty.

Summary
He has never been particularly good at handling crowds; his haphephobia something he has had since birth and not exactly helped by his parents treatment towards him. Usually the lab is far less crowded than this, easier for Souma to manage and feel comfortable in, though that doesn’t negate the fact that Dr. Kawara himself is an overly-friendly man. Even now Souma still finds himself freezing up under his hands, the doctor’s touch much akin to the sensation of Souma’s skin and nerves setting alight - but even that he can handle better than this.

Summary
What was real and what wasn’t? Kazuaki was two people in one, a mask so strong he’d forgotten who he used to be. His persona was one well-crafted, something he’d worked hard to achieve. It was easier to forget and pretend, after all. Most days he truly believed the lies he told himself.

“Be careful with your brother, Yuuya. Children’s skulls are very soft and weak; if you drop him or something lands on his head, something very terrible could happen.”

Summary
“Must you make the effort to annoy me every hour of every day?” Shuu asked, voice tinged with exhaustion at the other’s antics rather than irritation. Tohri huffed once he’d gotten things under control, ducking under the doorway with a vague glare at the inanimate object as if it had offended him personally - knowing Tohri, it probably had. “You know, I’m sure you wouldn’t struggle so much with doorways if you took off those heels and wore normal shoes from time to time.”
“I’m not the annoying one here! And these heels are Gucci!”
“I have absolutely no idea what that means, nor do I care. It looks like you dug those out of the trash.”

Summary
Shuu wouldn’t say that he was particularly inclined towards any time of the year, were someone to ask him. The notion of having a ‘favourite’ season was absurd, as was having an opinion on any man-made construct in its entirety. However, if he were held at gunpoint and told to pick one he preferred over the others, ‘autumn’ is most likely what his reply would be.
