He resents Dahlia when he’s here, resents him for treating Venti like something fragile, like a child who can’t take care of himself. But resents Dahlia when he leaves Venti alone with his own thoughts, abandons him to the loneliness and anxiety of being alone in his last moments. How could he abandon him? How could he leave him alone like this? Venti wants to love him, but how can he love somebody who has only ever made him suffer?
He shakes his head to clear it, disoriented. Is he still thinking about Dahlia?

Summary
Albedo turns his head towards Venti and meets his bright eyes, which look so wistful, yet kind and caring, as if they are looking at something long forgotten, but so secret and close to the heart.
“What are you doing here?” Albedo asks a perfectly logical question, forgetting that ‘logic’ and ‘Venti’ are not entirely compatible concepts.
“Well, hello to you too,” Venti jumps off the branch and lands next to Albedo. Albedo just watches his old friend, and the sight quietly confirms that Venti really still exists, “Are you going to leave me sitting on this branch like this? In this cold?” He nods at his clothes: black capri trousers and a shirt with cuffs. On his feet are shoes and white socks. Well, they were once white, but apparently, while Venti was climbing onto the branch, he managed to get them dirty. It’s very typical of him.
“Come in,” Albedo replies without hesitation, mentally cursing himself for it, because he hasn't seen him in probably about six years, and now he suddenly invites the unexpected guest to his flat. A silent question of how Venti could have found him briefly crossed Albedo’s mind, but he decided not to give it much thought.

Inside the tower, there’s a heap of something on the floor that Jean quickly realises are feathers— wings in fact, large and white.
Frantic, she immediately crouches. As she does so, however, Venti finally stirs. When he next opens his eyes, looking at her, his eyes immediately widen. Then, in a too-small, too-uncertain voice, raspy and shaky, he whispers—
“Gunnhildr?”
Venti gets de-aged after a close call with Decarabian's god remains in Old Mondstadt. Jean (and others) care for him in the aftermath. In the process, Jean walks the same steps and reconnects with her ancestor before her.
This fic was written as part of the Drunk Twink Summer Exchange and updates every two weeks.

“A Jinn,” Steve corrects, but his hands are shaking.
She flips through the contract, her brow furrowing the more she reads. She works her way slowly through the restrictions and stops on the third page. Her eyes go back to the top, disbelief growing with each word.
“Fuck,” Robin gasps, and her wide eyes find his. “A child? They chose for you to be a human child?”
He nods, throat in knots.
“So,” she fumbles. “You’ve been serving the Harringtons for eighteen years?”
“Pretty much.”
“Jesus.”

Or, eighteen years ago, the Harringtons walked out of Yellowstone Park with a newborn and the promise of ten wishes all bundled in one. Sixteen years later, Steve picks up a bat, restrictions be damned.

Somewhere between the first glass of wine and the last, between a solemn oath and an offering to a god, Venti gets bound in a contract to protect and care for the last of Alberich line. Sure 1000 years ago Venessa had banned him from babysitting, but he can handle this freshly traumatized seven year old.
Crepus would beg to differ. He takes one look at this “irresponsible alcoholic teenager” playing parent and decides he needs to step in.
OR: Papa Alberich gets lost and ends up leaving Kaeya with a friendly bard instead of at the winery. Venti adopts Kaeya…and Crepus adopts them both.
OR: The Anemo Archon, a Khaenri’ahn spy, and a Fatui Harbringer all think they have figured out what is going on but they are all playing very different games.
