“Then I’ll do it,” he said confidently.
“Really?” he smirked. “Then come over here.” He beckoned him with a single finger.
Jisung hesitated for a split second, but his feet moved slowly, dragging along the carpet until he stood right in front of him.
“Get on your knees,” he demanded.

The response he gets is a quick succession of blinks, and a confused head tilt. “Not allowed?”
Minho shuts his eyes, and explains. “Me and my friends have a stupid bet going. None of us are allowed to pop a knot for the whole month.”
Jisung is silent for a moment, eyes quizzical as he searches Minho's face for any hint of a joke. When he finds nothing, he huffs exasperatedly. "You're being serious." A statement, not a question.

Jisung eats his feelings in the form of gas station desserts, hides his body under coats three sizes too big, and lies to his parents about where he spends his nights. His refuge: that same park bench, at exactly 11:15 p.m., with the most obscene strawberry cheesecake money can buy.
For two weeks, they ignore each other with impressive dedication.
Until Minho breaks the silence with the most anticlimactic observation possible: “Did you know there's a coffee shop three blocks from here?”

“I’m not a brat,” Jisung mutters. This isn’t going how he hoped.
Minho just raises a brow.
“I’m not,” Jisung insists again although this time it comes out more like a whine.
“You’re not in a position to decide that, but I would be remiss as your handler to not acknowledge the work you’ve put in these past few weeks.”
Jisung’s eyes go wide. Minho offers him a genuine smile and well, Minho is beautiful and Jisung is just a man. The thought of Minho noticing him in a positive fashion makes him pulse in a new way. He shifts in his seat.
“You think I’ve been good?” Jisung asks.
“Don’t fish for compliments, it’s unbecoming of a prince.”
OR: Jisung is sent to a faraway kingdom for the summer to strengthen his diplomacy skills. Minho is appointed as his handler.

The name tasted like honey the first time it rolled off of Minho’s tongue, so sugary it almost made him shudder. He'd never been one to crave sweets, but that was before he met Jisung. The brunette had bounced over from where he sat to greet Minho, his round eyes gleaming. There had been no going back after that. Minho was smitten.
Where Minho was composed of sharp edges and harsh lines, Jisung had round cheeks and a smile so wide it exposed his gums. Minho had never seen anyone more beautiful, if that word could even capture all that Jisung embodied.

Summary
Minho hesitantly moves forward, reaching a hand out when he’s only half a meter away. Jisung watches his hand like a hawk, eyes laser focused. The touch is feather light, barely even making contact with his skin as Minho picks the hair up between two fingers and brings it to the side, then tucks it into the strands near Jisung’s ear. The alpha backs away as soon as the hair is out of Jisung’s face, his expression set in determination.
Syrupy honey mixes with petrichor, thick and dripping. It’s a beautiful blend, still combined with something Jisung can’t quite place. And on top of it all, he can smell his own sickeningly sweet peaches. The floral scent of lavender fields blooming, topped with smooth, warm vanilla. Intoxicating, entrancing.
(or: to ensure the population is maintained, a government program is put into place to pair soulmates. Jisung didn't want to be paired, but maybe this alpha isn't so bad)
