"You're not marrying me," Mydei said stubbornly, all before he fell to the floor, propped himself onto one knee, and pulled his own ring box out. "Because I'm marrying you."

He felt empty in a way he hadn’t been able to process until then. It wasn’t until that moment that he’d let it all hit him in full. He wasn’t just lonely, but severed—cut away from the routine he’d grown into without realizing how deeply he relied on it.
But he knew this was only the beginning. The tour loomed ahead of them, a stretch of unfamiliar cities and similarly empty bedrooms waiting to swallow him whole. Months worth of nights spent curled into the sheets by himself, without Mydei next to him.Or: Breaking up with the love of your life is hard. It's made infinitely harder when instead of moving on, you're obligated by contract to go on tour with him, and find yourself in his bed. Especially when you haven't had a proper conversation in six months.

He hasn't touched himself like this ever since he and Phainon were wedded. “You don't need to,” Phainon said into his ear the night of their wedding, pressed in so deep Mydei felt it's dent inside for days, "not when I'm here.”
Well, he isn't. But it doesn't matter.
Not when Mydei closes his eyes and spreads his toned legs, pushing aside the two thick strips of cloth covering his underwear and he palms himself, and imagines it's Phainon's between his thighs and touching him.
The prince bites his bottom lip, out of habit more than anything, as he stifles a moan when he rubs the heel of his palm against his clothed, leaking tip. He slides a free hand over to his mouth, smoothing his fore and middle finger against his own bottom lip.
Phainon would do that. Whenever Mydei would bite his lips to stay quiet out of the last lingering shame inside his body, he would swipe his thumb over his lips and say, “don't hold back. Don't ever stay quiet when you're with me.”
Phainon is a devoted man. Mydei thinks he should show that devotion more at home.

Kremnoan Roses aren't real. Probably. Phainon is about ninety-nine percent sure. But after coming across an antique Kremnoan vase, Phainon swears that if he, by some miracle, manages to recreates them, he will confess to Mydei with a bouquet of mythical roses.

They stood side-by-side at the stainless steel counter, looking at their respective cups. Then, as if guided by the same unseen thread, they each slowly raised their ice cream, holding it up next to the other’s face.
Mydei ’s tall, spiky swirl stood proudly next to Phainon’s grinning face, mirroring the energetic cowlick Phainon always sported.
Phainon ’s lower, sagging swirl sat beside Mydei’s head, a perfect replica of his own tiny, floppy tufts of hair.
A laugh burst out of Phainon first, bright and unrestrained, the nervous tension shattering into pure, delighted joy. Mydei’s shoulders shook, a quiet, deep chuckle escaping him, a rare sound that transformed his usually stern, composed features into something warm and breathtaking. For a moment, they just laughed, the sound echoing joyfully in the empty, wrecked cafe, all the day’s tension, all the years of unspoken longing, melting away like the ice cream in their hands.
