He doesn’t have any sort of plan, no idea of what he’s doing or why, really; if he did, he might have tried to position himself better, or hold something up, or— anything, anything at all instead of what he does, which is lunge forward in front of Jack and instantly feel the sensation of a tremendous force being punched through his left shoulder in the next beat of his heart.
“Michael!” he hears before there’s nothing but fuzzy static and this shrill roar that seems to echo through his whole skull. It’s shattered and strange, but he thinks it’s Jack’s voice.
