“The Council is all-seeing when it comes to these things, unfortunately. Now that we’re in the middle of the ritual, they will know if it’s completed or not,” Shouto shrugs but keeps an apologetic smile.
“I know we haven’t interacted more than a few pleasantries but would you rather be demoted to consort and have your people virtually powerless in our kingdoms’ union?” Shouto challenges, wry and cruel, testing Bakugou’s resolve. He’s not disappointed.
“I have changes that I want to make and no one else – not you nor this marriage – will ever stop me,” Bakugou seethes, coming up towards Shouto and looking up at him with venomous eyes. It’s comical, their height difference. Shouto has to look down to meet Bakugou’s gaze and up close like this, he can see the delicate fluttering of his blond lashes.

There’s only one problem.
