A genuine warmth blooms in Mike’s chest. His exhaustion fades away, a breathless smile breaking across his face, the first one in days. He has to glance away for a second to not melt on the spot due to the boy’s eyes. “Hey, this is awesome. Thanks…” Mike pauses, his eyes dropping down to the small pin snapped onto the apron. “…Will.”

Will works at a coffee shop. Mike pretends to like black coffee to look smarter. When Lucas asks Mike to grab a quick cup of coffee, both Mike and Will’s lives change.. maybe for the better. One thing is certain, though. Mike hates Lucas’ coffee orders.

Then he was spotted, and the boy stopped in his tracks; with skillful movements, he quickly slung the rifle off his shoulder and pointed it at Mike’s chest. Mike raised his hands while trying to keep most of his weight on his left leg.
“Whoa. Hey,” Mike said, his eyes wide as he stared at the tip of the rifle. “Just hold on. I’m not—I’m not going to hurt you.”

Summary
November 6th, 1983 had never been more chaotic. The disappearance of William Byers had cast a shadow over Hawkins that no one could shake. The Byers family’s grief was so consuming that it felt as if the entire town was suffocating under it. Yet, as quickly as the news spread, it was just as quickly forgotten.
People thought it was over when Will’s body was found in the water, when his funeral was held. But no. Hawkins had changed. Strange men in suits, sudden power outages, people vanishing without a trace—something dark had taken root.
But before asking what exactly was happening… Was William Byers really dead? Where was he? William Byers—
BAM.
Pain shot through the creature as it fell to the ground. Will held his gun tightly, his small, trembling body frozen in shock. The monster howled, a sound of anguish that shook the very air. Will tried to catch his breath, the blue, suffocating haze pressing against his lungs.
He could hear the creature’s distant cries echoing around him. Clinging to his weapon, he ran. Anywhere. Anywhere but here.

Summary
His Mom smiles at him with a knowing look, and Jonathan has an arch to his brow like he wants to ask more – but before either can, there’s the sound of a thud.
Will’s smile falls into his stomach. It wrenches with fear, with horror.
All three look to the entrance of the lounge, the direction of the thud.
“Shit,” says someone out of sight, just beyond the entrance, almost too soft to catch.
Will’s blood runs cold, because he knows that voice, knows the specific lilt of it.
“Mike?"

Summary
Mike Wheeler thinks his life is going to continue as normal now that Vecna’s been defeated. If only reality was that simple.
Under Vecna's spell and doomed to live a life of misery, once Mike realizes that he's in a trance, he runs to escape the fact that the last 14 years have happened in just 30 minutes. He's sixteen again, Eleven is alive, and Will doesn't hate him. He's got a second chance and prays he doesn't mess it up this time.
