Summary
Keaya is still overthinking his past choices. Most days he cannot stop his mind from overthinking and telling him to ruin himself. As his intrusive thoughts worsen, so does he. Death seems appealing, he just wants the world to pause. Everything will continue, and he must as well.

Summary
Childe never wanted to kill anyone.
Forced by the dire need to provide for his family, he had no choice but to join the infamous Fatui. Climbing the ranks, the criminal organisation offers him the job of a lifetime - assassinate Rex Lapis, the most powerful man in Liyue. Childe is an excellent marksman and had shown his prowess time and time again, making this near-impossible job impossible to refuse.
He has the notoriously charismatic Rex Lapis at his mercy in his crosshairs when a momentary blunder in concentration renders him unconscious.
He wakes blindfolded and bound with only survival on his mind, struggling against both his restraints and own will to make it out alive. Only wanting to return home successful, he comes face to face with his target who suspiciously has no killing intent. Rather, the enigmatic "Zhongli" seems to be far more interested in establishing a contract with him instead.

Kaeya stared at his smoking egg on the floor, motionless. It was one of those days where he woke up without the will to be disturbed by anything, and the energy he exuded was more of quiet disappointment rather than cocky charm. He was sure Barbatos had to be fucking with him. Or at least, Venti had to be. There was no way a normal breeze would be able to whip an entire fried egg out of his hands and send it splattering onto the tiled street in a rush of golden yolk.
or: kaeya's been protecting mondstadt for this long and has quietly grown empty from the endlessness of it all. when he gets taken along on a trip to liyue and meets another silent protector just as empty as himself, maybe, somehow, they can both fix each other.

“Do you even trust yourself right now?” Tomura scoffs, moving out of Dabi’s captivating stare to help him up the stairs.
