Sapnap’s life is good at Badlands ranch. He’s got two dads who love him, an obnoxious little brother, and three almost siblings. Of course good things end, but that by no means implies he has to be happy about it.
Quackity just wants his school tuition to be cheaper. Getting away from Schlatt is a great bonus though. Really how hard can it be to care for some animals on a ranch though.
Karl is going to do something good before he graduates so help him god. If that’s what Badlands ranch provides he’ll take it even with the sour look on the owners son’s face.

Quackity looked up at the group, the first sign of tears and a smile breaking out on his face.
“I got in” he said, turning the letter around to show them.
“I got into Harvard law!” He then cheered and the table broke out cheering and yelling. All the other customers in the dinner turned to look at them with annoyed looks.
“Let’s go!” Sapnap hugged Quackity close, almost lifting him from his seat.
“That’s our boyfriend! The Harvard student!” Karl cheered loudly and giggled excited.
“I am a goddamn genius!” Quackity said, practically shaking and jumping in his seat, his hands were shaking with all the build up excitement.
“Cambridge better watch out with you running wild” George laughed and leaned back in his seat, grabbing his milkshake.
“What?” Quackity blinked and the fog of euphoria in his brain seemed to stop.

"karl," says quackity, low and soft and scared. "karl, hey, can you breathe for me?"
sapnap tries to recall anything past grief and comes up too short. desperately he reaches for something; quackity's hands come and he intertwines their fingers for the briefest time before kneeling down to karl's level, their karl, all washed-down, blank and terrified.
"breathe, okay? everything's okay. well, everything's fucked," quackity snorts, "but that's never stopped us before, just breathe."
sapnap doesn't know what to burn to fix this. quackity sends him a look, and he kneels down next to him, presses his shoulder against the other's in some hope for comfort. underneath his pretense-humor quackity stands terrified, and sapnap's lungs are filled with water.
"karl, hey, man," he chokes out. "hi. you're home, you're safe, hey, i swear."
karl just blinks, unseeing.
sapnap's so fucking sick of losing the people he loves to their own minds.(or: sapnap, quackity and karl figure out how to build themselves some safety. it's a painful process, especially when the world doesn't seem inclined to let them; but they've never been the type to give up.

It's almost like the Police are trained to deal with criminals and that sort of thing. Still, he cannot help but think slightly bummed out.
"It's true! Did you see how I dodged that bullet?" Karl insists, earning a raise of an eyebrow in return. He cannot believe this. He just looks away, face burning in embarrassment. He's supposed to be uncatchable.
"You pushed an innocent civilian into the bullets direction as a literal meat shield.."

“So if I toss you right now, you’ll do a flip?” Sapnap teased and Quackity tried to choke down the butterflies in his chest enough to give a witty retort.

Quackity's senior year of high school was supposed to be simple. Continue pining silently after his best friend, Karl. Continue being the best damn member of the cheer team with his friends Niki and Puffy. Dodge around the assholes on the football team who liked harassing him. Get into college, smoke with George and Karl as soon as football season was over, and graduate with his usual high grades while also skipping as much as possible. Instead, he was here, falling hard for Karl's boyfriend Sapnap, getting into arguments with his other friends because of it, and trying to hide the fact that the football team was getting progressively worse.
