But Hong’er? Hong’er came to this earth in red, in between clock strokes of minute time where the stars had aligned for favor or misery. It was stupid prejudice that made people think the younger child was nothing more than a wretched omen.

Summary
December twenty fourth is a day of mourning. It’s easy to forget, right now, riding up an escalator to the jaunty tune of a poppy Christmas song, Yuji humming off key in Megumi’s ear and Yuta enduring an older lady reaching to arrange his hair, falling over his face. It’s easy to forget, but at the same time, Megumi can see the physical manifestation of what they survived on Yuji’s face, and Yuta’s shifting eyes; fists that clench around the handle of an invisible sword. Megumi is reminded of it by the fact that Satoru isn’t here with them right now. He should be grateful. Satoru and Yuji in a mall together is worse than Yuji alone. But Satoru would flounce around with food and drinks, try on clothes, always find something to get Megumi even if it’s a useless thing that Satoru knows he doesn’t need.
Megumi is upset about this new absence often. He steps off the escalator; this time Yuji has Megumi’s hand leading him through the hall towards the medium sized shop, the door framed by black marble and the shine of a chandelier falling against the regular tile of the mall floor. Sheesh. Overkill. So Satoru.

Megumi Fushiguro’s wings are matted and dirty. They’re folded tightly to his back, smashed under an aged backpack held together by silver duct tape and hope. The very tips of crumpled primaries twitch where they poke out from under the kid’s oversized coat. Satoru, standing over the boy, peering down his nose at him, feels something akin to desperation at the sorry state of his feathers.
“When was the last time you were bathed?” The question is layered with many more that Satoru would like to volley at the chick. He holds his tongue,a decision that was well made, the boy flinches back, just slightly and glares up at Satoru warily. The disarray of his wings extends to his hair, and down into his pale face, smeared with exhaustion and hunger.

You all insist on giving me so much work to do!” He chokes the last few words out, dropping the fan onto the table and reaching for his wine cup. If he moves fast enough, Jiang Cheng might miss the way his hands have begun to shake. He’d wanted to paint a fan like this, one more detailed than this. He’d planned to go out into the mountains for a week or so, observing nature and painting to his heart’s content. And then he’d remembered the last time he’d wanted to do that, and how his brother had said no. He’d tried to beg and plead and then—

Alfred would scoff at the statement, about how Bruce was trying to justify the whole situation to himself. It had started out as a simple design, black everything with black outlines and black hood. It got a little more intense as the world went on, got wind of his ghost on the streets, and became scared of The Bat . So Bruce got a little more creative with it, Alfred and him had a good laugh over the name, the scare, and Alfred had a vicious streak of humor that he had passed onto his ward-
So now the suit had a visible bat-theme, an insignia to drape in the shadows and to paint across the streets of Gotham.
It only took a year into the whole charade of heroism for Bruce to overhear a conversation between some goons- some low level thug hired by the Riddler this week- about nothing at all pertaining to what the hell the Riddler was doing in the sewers but instead:
“ The Batman can fly, you know, I’ve seen his wings.”

Satoru knows his limits.
He knows just how far he can push his limitless before his brain begins to feel like it’s melting out of his ears.
He knows just how long he can use his six-eyes till even the sensation of clothes on skin begin to feel like knives piercing him all over his body rather than soft fabric and despite physically closing his eyes, the way he can still feel and sense and see everything regardless.
it’s a pain he’s learnt to deal with growing up.
Something to push to the back of his mind until the mission is over and until he can carry himself home into bed and try to sort through the painful buzzing of information in his brain as tears run down his face
Sometimes though, on the worse of those days
He wishes someone would knock on his door, wishes someone would tell him to stop being so stubborn and just hold him because how long had it been since he had actually touched someone else..
