Then Aziraphale remembered where they were, what had happened that day, what was likely to happen tomorrow. Break glass in case of emergency, he thought.

As it turns out, he's not the only one who can't keep away and, unlike him, Aziraphale isn't in search of wine. For want of the right words to say, they find other ways to show how they feel.

Summary
Aziraphale has read every book in his shop at least once. He has reread some of his favored volumes dozens of times, has memorized whole great swaths of them. If his own words are insufficient to convince Crowley of his sincerity, then perhaps the words of others can!
(He might have the decency to ask the books what they thought of this plan. The books had been watching the two of them for over a hundred years, and certainly had a great deal to say on the matter. But Aziraphale neglects to consult them, and thus will be very unprepared for what happens next.)
Back on earth, Aziraphale tries to apologize.

(Not one dark corner or grime covered surface. Just auroral unblemished minimalist decor.
Hideous.
They did have to give it to him that it was only slightly less inviting than their own office.)

Anthony Crowley sells computer systems to London businesses–and specializes in sneaking extra charges and fees into the associated contracts. It’s not his fault no one actually reads the paperwork before signing it.
He thinks mild-mannered bookshop owner Aziraphale Fell will be an easy mark; surely no one that old-fashioned and dotty will spot a few carefully-worded technical clauses in his contract.
And then Aziraphale comes back with some very polite, very pointed questions – and Crowley decides that maybe pulling off the sale isn’t his first priority anymore…

He’s content.
Until this year’s summer guest, a man named Crowley, provokes the introspection he’s spent his entire perfect life avoiding — including the idea that his desires may not align with the story he’s told himself all these years.
And that the strongest among them is for a man he's only just met.

He isn’t going to spill his guts to this woman surrounded by guinea pig merchandise, he absolutely is not— but then he remembers the world is ending tomorrow, so, what the hell.
“I just want him to choose me,” Crowley says. “For once, I want him to fucking choose me, over… over…” His mind reaches frantically for a human-appropriate metaphor to couch his whole impossible situation in, and eventually finds one.
“...over God.”

Summary
Aziraphale and Crowley, a recently demoted angel and a demon taking a pay cut, have never met. In their scrambles to get an affordable place to live, each of them looks online for a human flatmate. Crowley responds to an insomniac bon vivant and finds himself living with a stuffy, bossy homebody. Aziraphale writes back to a tidy minimalist and ends up with an obnoxious houseplant hoarder and his six pet snakes.
As they each try to conceal their supernatural abilities, flat-sharing turns to fighting, fighting turns to flirting, and flirting turns to...
Well, what Aziraphale and Crowley don’t know won’t hurt them, right?
