Most of the time Peter’s okay.
Yeah, it still hurts. Having Ned and MJ so close to him yet so far away. Seeing Happy every so often and never being able to say a word. The guilt of May’s death weighing on his shoulders.
But even though the pain never leaves, it’s usually tolerable.
He can let himself cry for a bit, then toughen up and go patrolling.And even if he lets the thugs take a few more hits at him than needed, or lets himself get in the way of a pocket knife, or takes a little too long to dodge a bullet, it’s okay.
Because at least he’s okay.Isn’t he?

He’s upright and breathing, so in the grand scheme of things, the situation can’t be that bad. Summary
Tony Stark was not Spider-man’s biggest fan.
Something was unnerving about someone who never showed you their real face, even after you saved the world together, or provided him with an amazing suit. He didn’t even know the guy's name for Pete’s sake, he could be anyone under the mask. Especially since he rejected Tony’s offer to join the Avengers and yet, still constantly showed up to help out. It was like he just cared about sweeping in and saving the day, completely avoiding any and all of the responsibility aspect or paperwork part of it.
And then there was the ridiculously mess at the statue of liberty that no one, not even Stranger, could remotely figure out what happened. Spider-man was just too secretive, too slimy for Tony. He was more than happy to just sort of drop contact with him when he retired and let people like Strange deal with it. Especially after the guy just stopped using all of the tech Tony had painstakingly developed for him, in favor of apparently making his items. A little ungrateful if you asked Tony.
He was more than happy to cut Spider-man out of his life for good.

Suddenly finding himself in the middle of nowhere definitely was not on his list of to-do's, especially when it turns out he's been thrown into another universe. Another universe where he's apparently dead. At least Tony Stark was alive, even if he thinks that Peter is some hallucination.

She remained expressionless as always, eyes trained on the crying child. A well hidden flash of curiosity appeared momentarily on her face, Steve barely caught it.
