“Fuck you!” Simon shouts but it sounds like a cry, vulnerable and unguarded. All kinds of emotions are already playing out on his face, and he looks surprised, confused, and scared but elated and hopeful that Wille is going to love him for the rest of his life.

Simon lets out an angry sigh. "Go home and take Henry with you,” Simon spits. "I don't need your help. I don't need you." He harshly drops his wet cloth on the counter, glaring at Wilhelm like if he stares hard enough he'll actually be able to physically crush Wilhelm's heart. And frankly, Wilhelm's starting to think that might be possible.

Simon knew Henry was joking and he also often felt like he and Wille were in their own world, their glances to each other communicating whole stories. It was uncanny how much he could tell what Wille was thinking or feeling just by looking at him and vice versa. He knew they separated themselves maybe more than they should but didn’t they deserve that after all the shit they had been through? He thought so and didn’t feel bad about it. He also knew how special their bond was and it kinda scared him at times. Like, wtf? He had found his soul mate at 16? But he knew it, deep down and so did Wille. It just was. They were it for each other and damn everyone else around them if it was annoying.

Simon watches him in amusement and laughs a little. “That’s what I said isn’t it?”
Wille blushes, smiling. “I guess so. Well first you fold the paper down the middle like this.”
He does this with a new square, making the crease almost without thinking. Simon seems to be paying close attention to each new fold until the crane is finished. Wille offers it to him and he picks it up tenderly, like the bird will crumble with one wrong touch.
“It’s beautiful,” the boy whispers, running his thumb along the crane’s wing.
“I know,” Wille whispers back, but he’s not looking at the origami bird in Simon’s hands.
