Summary
Peter was alone, mid-way through an existential crisis after the Erasure™ and was dreading the upcoming month of May.
Jason was sick of people telling him how he felt. ‘You don’t need us anymore,’ Artemis had told him, as if saying it would make it true. As if Jason needed someone to justify keeping them around. But three weeks back in Gotham and all Jason felt was fucking bored and lonely.
It was a relief, then, when some random New Yorker was thrown into his living room through a portal straight out of some LSD daydream.
Finally, something interesting to deal with.
Cue some wild family misunderstandings, criminal conspiracies and cults.
Because there’s always a goddamn cult.

The boy hesitated before replying:

"A year is a long time." Alberto agreed, slowly shaking his head. He said nothing about the nagging thought that 'best friend', even then, meant 'sweetheart', but he would discover it in his own time.

Summary

Both lead to some risks being taken, and the boys' daily games are starting to take a dangerous turn. But some good can come from this - sharing the thrill of adventure and moments of tranquility alike can only lead to a strengthened bond between the two.

Summary
Luca has feelings, and he has the pictures to prove it.
The photo of Alberto on the beach, of him fixing a motorboat, of his bright smile as he climbs onto Massimo’s back, of his eyes as they’re focused on the sea ahead, watching for kids as a lifeguard, and so many more. Even from years long past.
Sharpie drawings on the arms of two boys, Alberto smiling as he stands in the rain, pictures of the trio where Luca catches himself looking at Alberto too often.
So maybe there's always been something.

In which Luca finally catches feelings after years of Alberto's pining. There has been growth and chaos in the past seven years, but when 19-year old Luca comes home from school after studying photography, he will finally have a summer that will never end.
However, as an unnerving, familiar distance grows between two best friends, Luca's photos take the role of filling the void of the best friend- and love- that he's missing.

Summary
Five years after the summer Alberto Scorfano met his two best friends, he’s proud to say he’s already well-versed in how to human. Sailing a boat? Check. Handling harbour market sales? Check. Using his sea monster form to help Signor Marcovaldo collect the best barnacles? Check. Other knowledge has eluded him, though—for example, the appropriate name for the way his heart races every time Luca calls him “caro”.
When June of 1968 arrives to Porto Rosso, and Giulia and Luca return from Geneva with troublesome news, Alberto wishes things would stay as they were in 1963. But as the Underdogs work together to help Giulia avoid the rigid expectations placed on her by her mother, and life in Porto Rosso gets turned upside down once more, he can't help wondering whether sometimes changes might be the start of something better.

So. Here are the facts as you see them.
Fact number one: Giulia is going to be on the train for Genova in two days. She's going back home--because Genova is her home, apparently, and you're still grappling with the idea that there are places outside your island and Portorosso, BIG ones, they keep telling you, all over the globe--where she'll spend the next nine or so months going to school.
Fact number two: You and Luca now own your very own Vespa. It's not road-ready yet, and it might not be for a while, which is fine actually because it turns out now that the Paguros aren't going to send Luca away to the bottom of the ocean, you're going to have to whittle them down into giving him permission to run away with you.
Fact number three: That's not even really a plan that makes sense, if you think about it for more than a few minutes at a time.
Fact number four: You haven't forgotten that Luca doesn't actually want to run away with you anymore. He's just pretending he never said it.

Summary
Luca couldn't put a fin on it, but something was different about this summer. Maybe it was something in the air, or something in the way the salty breeze came in off the docks. Perhaps it was the look in Alberto's eyes as he and Luca made eye contact - happiness and mirth in his expression, but a hint of something else behind his sea-green eyes.
Luca returns home for the summer after graduating from college. He hasn't seen Portorosso in years, nor has he stepped in the ocean in ages. He's ecstatic to be home - but he's hiding a huge secret.
Actually, two secrets.
For one thing, Luca is gay. And on that note, when did his best friend, Alberto, become so incredibly attractive?
And the other secret - well, he swore an oath with the Italian government not to tell.
In short, Luca wrestles with his feelings for his childhood friend, drinks a lot of wine, and balances precariously on the precipice between being true to himself and keeping his secrets safe.

Twining tails has always been a significant part of sea monster culture. It's a sign of intimacy and commitment, a sort of "I love you" if you will. Luca's only ever seen his parents twine their tails, so why does it come so naturally to him and Alberto?
