This fic lives so rent free in my head that I wrote an entire smut fic based on it. I’ve literally NEVER written fanfic of a fanfic before. Fanfiception. That’s literally how good it is. I even went and rewatched The Thing (the 80s version).
I cannot express to you how good this is! I even drew fanart!!! If you have time to kill and want something incredible and not-shippy, check it out. And then go read my smut if you want a little dessert after the main course. ;)

‘“It’ll be easier, if you stop,” Ragatha admits from her spot beside her on the sofa. They’re all present around where she’s curled up, a small indent against the cushions, watching each ragged breath tear through the round curves of her shoulder puffs. Her eyes are glazed over, dry without reprieve; she fights the urge to close them, because she’s almost certain that if she does she won’t ever wake up again.
She’s pretty sure she’s dying.’
The human body can only survive up to three days without water. As Pomni is forced to acclimate to her new life in the circus, she can feel the tether connecting her to her real body dwindle with every passing day. Lying undiscovered in the remnants of a long abandoned building, her true body withering away to the elements, her consciousness is accompanied by various other trapped souls in Caine’s twisted wonderland. They’ve all been through the same brutal hazing; now they have to be there to sit through Pomni’s.

MIND THE TAGS.
This one is dark but the ending is good, and if you like realism, this is gonna be up your alley. There’s little pieces in every chapter, no matter how dark, that remind you that hope is not lost. That in darkness comes community, and that we can all lighten the load for each other a little bit as long as we are willing to support one another through difficult times.
Which, imo, are the themes of the show. So the author fucking nailed it.
