Years after the events of the movies, Sonic moves out of the Wachowski's house to be an adult. Unfortunately, humans aren't accommodating to aliens, so with a machine Tails made, Sonic lives in Mobius in a house he built and frequently returns to Earth to be with his family.
A few weeks ago, Shadow came to stay with Sonic. The ebony hedgehog wanted to figure out what he was doing with his life, getting a taste of living alone (or somewhat alone) and Mobius.
Their proximity, however, gives their instincts an opportunity, and now they're rapidly hurtling into a new stage of both of their lives.

What if Sonic was the one who found Shadow and woke him up?
After Tails studies the Master Emerald as a way to track chaos energy should anything ever happen to it, a startling discovery was made. Tracking a high amount of chaos energy from a GUN facility, the trio break into the base to check it out. And as Sonic explores, he discovers a hedgehog just like him, and is determined to set him free.
This is set after the second movie and Knuckles series. This will be a two chapter fic focused on finding Shadow and breaking him out of the GUN base, but I plan to write more for this in the future. Most likely, I’ll be making this into a series. Rated T to be safe.

Was remaking one of Eggman's weapons really that bad of a crime, he was definitely going to hear it this time, wasn't he? He started to panic trying to find any way out of this, so he didn't end up locked up by G.U.N again. But as he was thinking he couldn't help but take note of how the corners of Shadow's lips wiggled as if he was trying not to laugh or… smile. Something didn't feel right. But this was proven when Shadow suddenly pulled him into a one-handed hug, even kissing the top of Sonic's head. Sonic felt as his face heated up with surprise.
