Shadow is trying to prevent the future Mephiles the Dark foretold, while Sonic is trying to protect his loved ones. Both are trying to raise their son Silver to be the great hero they know he will become.

Summary
The Earth trembles beneath the might of Prince Shadow, the cold and ruthless heir to the Black Arms throne. Raised by the sinister King Black Doom and his alien army, Shadow's heart knows only ambition and cruelty. His very existence as the ultimate life form is a testament to his supremacy, and with the Black Arms at his command, he seeks to expand his dominion by conquering Earth. His cruel reign is challenged by Sonic and his friends, who are swiftly defeated and imprisoned. The only hope lies in Amy Rose, an ordinary girl with a mystical ability to find Chaos Emeralds, the key to unimaginable power. After being captured by the arrogant Prince, forbidden romance blossoms between them, weaving a tale of love and redemption inspired by "Beauty and the Beast", "Epic: The Musical", "Star Wars", and "Phantom of the Opera". As the lines between enemy and ally blur, will love be enough to save them all, or will the world fall to the shadows forever?

Summary
Over 20 years ago the royal castle of Mobius was burnt down with the Queen and her three newborn children still inside, left to succumb to it's flames. For even longer Shadow has kept out of the affairs of mortals and lived in peaceful isolation just outside the main kingdom. His peaceful life is interrupted by a mysterious hedgehog who brings more questions than answers and puzzles worth solving. The possibility of the royal family's death not being an accident comes to light as Shadow struggles to keep an ancient promise despite his wish to be left alone.

Sonic, Tails, and Shadow start on their quest to locate the keys to unlocking the power of the Gods and find if the mysterious Chaos Emeralds are truly a myth or not. Summary
Silver the Hedgehog has been fighting against the apocalypse for seven long years. Finally, he and the remaining mortals initiate Operation Argus to save as many lives as possible. Silver is the only one left behind to destroy everything that remains. But his success is short-lived when the darkness of the east—Mephiles—forces Silver to turn back time.
Back at eight years old before the apocalypse began, Silver endeavors to stop it from ever occurring in the first place. His first step is to kill Emperor Shadow of the Doom Empire, the one who unleashed Mephiles in the first place. Unfortunately, Silver isn't strong enough to kill Shadow, and he, in turn, can't kill Silver because he's... Shadow's blood?
It wasn't in Silver's plans to become an imperial prince, but he decides that he can use this. He'll stop the apocalypse, no matter what it takes.

In an unlikely turn of events, Sonic would soon find himself saving Blaze and would set out on a journey to stop his arch nemesis, Dr. Eggman, from acquiring Blaze.
