Part 1: Q vs. the nefarious article of discarded clothing.
Part 2: Logically, Q knew that James and Alec embarked on all sorts of training exercises. Logically, he knew that those exercises could be quite cutthroat, if not borderline insane. Logically, Q also knew that James and Alec would do anything to come out ahead in a challenge - especially cheat. Logic had nothing to do with the hand that suddenly dragged him into the shadows and asked him for a favor.

Q had no Gift. His family were late bloomers, and Q wasn’t in a rush to get his anyway. However, the body wants to survive more than anything else, and so it is quite common for Gifts to manifest in traumatic situations. So when the psychotic man started running at him with a knife, a few things changed rather quickly for Q.
Namely, he manifested his shapeshifting Gift, transformed into a tiny kitten, and ran away as fast as he possibly could.
OR:
After witnessing a horrific crime, Q finds himself injured, trapped in the body of a kitten, and under the care of two secretive men that have promised to protect him. Inspired by world-building and vibes of the Three’s Company series by Only_1_Truth, but takes place in a different universe.
