Hours went by as Veronica read the story in front of her. It was thirteen chapters so far. And Pop kept coming by with a milkshake and onion rings. As she turned each page the movie projector that showed her her memories spun to life. She could hear her mother and her father's voices. She could smell the mothballs in the closet where she and Archie first kissed. Jughead told her to read the first chapter but it was like Pop's onion rings. She couldn't have just one.
"Jughead?" The two teens looked at each other and waited with bated breath to wake up from this dream they were in. But she decided to take a page from his story. Two steps and she was cupping his face so she could kiss him sweetly. They ignored the jocks’ hoots and hollers. "I remember," she whispered as their foreheads pressed against each other. "I'm starting to remember."
She looked at him pleadingly. There had to be more. He said there was more. A second novel perhaps? The story couldn't end with just those thirteen chapters.
Jughead nodded with a smile.

He wasn’t real, she reminded herself. He was dead and this was just his tombstone, which made her a little sad, but she didn’t really have many options for patient, listening ears.
She would take what she could get.
He wished she could stay with him.
But he knew she couldn’t. She had a life to go live, and he was stuck here in his grave with nothing but the endlesss, lonely stretch of time. He settled in, waiting for her return so he could spend what little of it he could with her.
