There are levels to innocence, or whatever, different ways of categorizing it — attribute them to different stages of life, maybe. And being locked in a prison dimension with a squishy pink alien bastard who has a very big grudge against you, with all the means and all the time in the universe to exact vengeance on you, means that inevitably: through the medium of spilled guts and the existential horror of eternity, you're going to lose some of that innocence. Have it clawed out, inch by inch of bloodied scales, mile by mile of empty black space.
(It's whatever, okay? Leo knew what he was doing when he threw himself in there, really, he did, he just… never really thought he'd have to reckon with its consequences in a tangible reality.)

heart wrenching fic for pre-canon mako & bolin! their story is actually so tragic no matter how you look at it and this exploration of it is undoubtedly one of the best. really hurts in all the worst ways possible and i love it. all the details are basically canon to me and even though it's incomplete, it ends at a solid place. i really love all of op's writings for lok so so so much. would rec any time <3

Summary
If you are to send a person back in time in order to correct a fucked up timeline, then, what kind of person will you send?
It is only natural to send back someone with a lot of information on the events surrounding why the world went downhill, isn't it? And for the case of Japan's collapse under Villain rule, perhaps someone like Hawks, who was behind the infiltration of the Paranormal Liberation front, who held lots of confidential information and could actually put it into use. Or maybe Endeavor, Japan's number one hero since the retirement of All might.
So then why, when you have all of these fully-capable heroes who actually know what was going on behind the scenes and would actually know what to do, did the role of a time traveler have to fall on Kaminari Denki, UA student who has absolutely no idea about what is even happening to the world?
Maybe this hero thing isn't for him, after all.

i've been skipping this one for a while because i knew it was going to wreck me, but holy shitting shit, i have never felt this much insurmountable dread in my heart while reading a fic. this is insane, absolutely the Best take i've ever read on the perspective of a time traveler, and devastating in basically every way possible. i am so afraid as to what will happen if this fic continues because i am already in so much pain. family dynamics top-tier, the characterization is also so on game, the vividness of the situation and the future it's all so damned good. i could physically feel my heart pounding in my chest the whole time i read this one and i don't think that's ever happened before. wow.

... so this is what i mean when i say i'm envious of good writers. the author's so good at like, immersing the reader into the environment, it's incredible. idk if they were involved in the mafia at some point or if they just did a hella ton of research or if they just Popped Out Of The Womb this way, but holy shit. this is definitely my favorite lok au, adore how they write all the character (especially the dragon gang and mako, if you didn't know i absolutely love mako) and the premise is so good, love korra and bolin's dynamic and,,, hngnggbjsdfbhksbhsfd it's just so good!!! read it, losers!!!!

have i ever mentioned that i love mako and bolin's relationship more than anything in lok? i mean korra is excellent, the show is excellent, but if u say Fuck It All to the romantic bullshit that goes on, then the absolute best relationship is theirs. read this fic a while back but forgot to bookmark it but READ IT dammit. it has such good insight into mako and bolin's relationship when they were younger pre-series and it's just,,, hnggg so good. people shit on mako too much but this fic really reminds me of just why i love him that much, through all the careful Brain Treading that goes on through his desperation to be productive and refusal to let himself get medical attention after getting severely injured cuz they can't naturally afford it. bolin's voice here is impeccable and him realizing everything his brother does for him? all the financial instability and the author's navigation of so many implications? SO GOOD akjdshfbhjadsjkb <333
