“So where are we going?” Keith asks.
“It’s a surprise, Red. A day of autumn fun, led by yours truly.” Lance replies, light and easy.
Keith sighs in response, shoving his freezing nose further into the collar of his jacket. He knew he should’ve brought a scarf.
Keith’s never had apple cider. He's never done any of those classic fall activities, really. And Lance, taking it as a personal offense, decides to take one day and change that. Among other things.

His hand strays from where it sits atop the gear, lightly dragging his fingertips up the length of Keith’s arm, until it settles on his leg. He gets no reaction save for a small hum, so Lance decides to give his thigh a teasing squeeze, “You awake over there, baby?”
And there’s a response. It’s slight, but Lance definitely catches the way Keith’s legs spread wider, even if for only a millisecond— definitely hears the slight hitch in his breath that goes with it.
So Lance squeezes again, feigning innocence, “Keith?”
“I’m awake,” Keith quips, “And don’t pretend like you don’t know what you’re doing.”

Hunk's expression again turns genuine, eyes softening as he faces Keith head on, “In all seriousness, I just think you guys would be like, oil and water or something,” he scratches his neck, “like, you both have pretty strong personalities, you know?”
“And they’d clash.” Pidge finishes. Keith looks over at them, finding a rare sense of earnestness in their gaze.
Keith hmms in acknowledgment and concedes to their points. It seems to make sense, plus it’s not like he’ll ever meet this Lance guy anyway; there’s no point in wondering about what-ifs.
or: Keith and Lance both work at a jazz-themed coffee shop.

“Shiro,” Keith says cautiously, “what’s it like to be in love?”
Because what else might it be? Something so big that his chest feels like it might burst when he thinks too hard about it, a feeling that makes him smile even when it aches, that strange comfort that washes over him and steadies his heartbeat when Lance is near, even when it stutters for the same reason. That roaring pain when Keith thought he’d lost Lance, and that searing relief when he realized he hadn’t. Their idle conversation. Lance’s palms on Keith’s cheeks, gentle and kind as he searched for injury, infection, pain.
“Hang on to it, Keith,” Shiro says, “it’s always worth seeing where it goes.”
And Keith thinks, as if I could let go of it in the first place.
