Summary
After very publicly (some would argue theatrically) losing his mind and murdering three young women in an unconscious state, FBI consultant Will Graham is sentenced to serve three consecutive life sentences in the notorious Shawshank State Prison. Upon arrival, he is unsettled to find himself in a cell neighboring that of infamous serial killer Dr. Hannibal Lecter, who is 12 years into his own life sentences and amuses himself dealing in fine contraband.
When Will approaches Lecter with an unusual request, the two strike up a friendship which, over the years, develops into a powerful infatuation that will change them both irreversibly. But prison is no fairy-tale world, and there are dangers lurking around every corner: the violent captain of the guards, Jack Crawford; the scheming warden, Frederick Chilton; and the brutal gang known as the Sisters, led by the murderer Francis Dolarhyde.
And then there is the secret Will is hiding in his cell. A secret that, sooner or later, will change everything.

“It’s good you’re obedient,” Will said as he set aside the leash and opened the collar.
Stepping up behind him, he slid it over his head, gripping the buckle in one hand and the lip in the other. He pressed it against Hannibal’s throat and pulled it tight. Hannibal’s back hit his chest beneath the force, and he exhaled heavily, his throat bobbing beneath the pressure of the leather strap.
“I’m not one to punish my animals,” Will murmured in his ear, “but I’d make an exception for you.”
“Shall I refer to you as ‘master?’” Hannibal asked, his voice striated with arousal, but bravely coy as Will began to buckle the collar around his neck.
“It doesn’t matter what you want to call me,” Will told him as he buckled the collar roughly, grabbed the leash from the bed, and linked it to the collar. “By the time I'm done with you, you won’t be able to speak.”
After Hannibal breaks Mason's neck at Will's behest, Will decides that he wants Hannibal on his leash a while longer.

Soulmate AU: Soulmates find their other half when they look into their eyes. After the next time they sleep, they wake with one eye the color of their intended.
Will Graham avoids eyes. He's never wanted a soulmate, never wanted to be told by the universe who he was supposed to feel a connection to. He already struggles enough with connections, thank you very much. As a psychiatrist, he works with soulmates who have lost their other half through various means, part of a social system that regards the journey to your soulmate as the most important thing a person can do. Coerced by Jack Crawford to consult on a case where the assailant is targeting soulmates, Will finds himself turning to the notorious Dr. Lecter to gain insight on how he's choosing the soulmates to target.
Things go horribly awry when he looks into Hannibal's eyes, though. The next morning, he wakes up with one eye blue, the other maroon. He's never wanted a soulmate, least of all one behind bars for murdering dozens of people and eating them. Hannibal thinks it's delightful -it's been dreadfully boring since he was locked up.
