You could drop her in the ocean, and she’d figure out how to breathe underwater. Put her in a volcano and she’d know how not to burn.
It felt dirty, somehow, to see Yasmin Khan this vulnerable.
A three shot in different perspectives building up to (and after) the Big Reveal in Eve of the Daleks. (You know the one.)

She doesn't want to talk about it, doesn't want to sit in her apartment with Dennis in silence, just wants a safe place to think. But her cover's been blown, and Yolanda knows where to go looking for her now.

Summary
Trinity Santos thinks love languages are bullshit. She proclaims so loudly, the first time she hears the term. No one loves in just one way, and sometimes she doesn’t believe love exists at all. Which is what makes to fucking hard for Yolanda to get it through her skull that the flirting she's been not so subtly doing for the entire time they've known each other? It's not a joke.
Aka the five ways Yolanda creeps in on the edges of her life without her even noticing, and the moment the penny drops.

“Do you have a boyfriend? A husband?”
She raised an eyebrow in his direction, “Nope.”
An overly confident smirk appeared on his face. He started to raise his good hand, slowly, seemingly towards her, but was cut off.
“Props to you, Doctor Santos. You’re quite popular today.”
Garcia stood in the doorway, wearing a smile on her face that didn't reach her eyes.
“She is pretty, isn’t she?”

Summary
So yeah, maybe Santos had Garcia’s driver card stuck to her bedroom mirror during her formative teenage years, and maybe that headshot of Garcia with the trademark no-nonsense look on her face played some small part in her discovering her sexuality. And maybe in the back of her mind, she was thinking of Garcia when she declared her major in mechanical engineering, when she was pulling all-nighters with the FSAE team, when she was doing her PhD at the University of Pittsburgh before everything fell apart, again. Whatever, it’s not weird.

Summary
Standing by the other end of an ice tub is Santos, looking small and numb and rooted to the spot.
“Discúlpeme,” Garcia interjects with the pure iciness she reserves for when men piss her off, arms crossed over her chest, and stance rigid and ready. “What the fuck is going on in here?”
Langdon lets out a big annoyed huff and glances at her over his shoulder. “Nothing,” he deadpans with a dismissive wave in Santos’s direction. “Just your new best friend continuing to put patients’ lives in danger because she wants to do everything her fucking self.”
“That’s not—” Mohan begins, then hesitates when Langdon shoots her a look, but she just steadies herself and continues to address Garcia only. “That’s not entirely accurate.”
Garcia’s eyes shift to the intern in question, whose body language hasn’t changed at all. “Dr. Santos?” she asks, just on the soft side of neutral.
Santos doesn’t react.

Summary
Trinity Santos is very good at keeping secrets. Which means she’s very good at knowing who else is keeping secrets.
In retrospect, that might have been why she was able to clock Langdon so easily on her first day. There was something in his eyes.
'Please don’t find out. Please don’t find out. Please don’t find out.'
Amateur. Trinity had years to learn how to hide that look, to perfect the best way to hide everything behind sharp eyes and sarcastic remarks. Dr. Langdon didn’t have such luck. A beginner.
Just like the girl laying on the hospital bed, hands on her stomach, leaving out a whimper or two as Santos, automatically and barely even there, presents the case. She looks at the teenager and sees it too.
'Please don’t find out. Please don’t find out. Please don’t find out.'

“I didn't realize you two were that serious,” Garcia hums.
This time, Santos takes a pause. What does she mean by that? Does she think—Santos bursts out laughing. “I’m sorry… Dr. Garcia, you think… no, please tell me I’m wrong. You think Whitaker is my boyfriend?”
Or, Dr. Garcia keeps catching Whitaker and Santos together and starts to get the wrong idea.

Summary
“I usually have pretty good judgment,” Garcia continues. “I stay calm, I think clearly, and I make logical choices. But when you came to me with extremely reasonable concerns about someone I’ve worked with for a long time, I snapped at you and shut you down. You deserved patience, and advice, and respect,” Garcia admits, “and I’m sorry.”
Trinity takes a moment to digest all of this, then nods a little, then takes a half-step closer as a sign of trust or whatever. “Thank you,” she says quietly and finds Garcia’s eyes. “I really… I appreciate all of that. Thank you.”
She watches Garcia’s posture relax slightly, then watches Garcia take her own small step forward, then watches Garcia’s expression shift into something that makes Trinity’s breath catch.
“Can I make it up to you with a cocktail?”

Summary
“Just fucking great,” Garcia groans, hands on her hips as she finally allows her eyes to trail over to where Santos is standing in the corner. She was hoping distantly that if she just stood still enough, the woman wouldn’t spot her, but it seems she’s not so lucky. “I’m starting to think you’re bad luck, rookie.”
After Santos snitched on Dr. Langdon, Dr. Garcia more or less stopped speaking to her. A month later, the two of them get stuck in an elevator. Alone.

Summary
“I noticed you don’t have an emergency contact on file.”
“Mom’s useless,” Santos mutters. “Dad’s not around.”
“Friends?” Garcia asks expectantly after a beat.
Santos rolls her functioning eye and tries once again to swallow without anything hurting. “Historically—bad at those,” she croaks.
“Color me surprised,” Garcia deadpans, then types again and does a few clicks. “Well, I already have this week off for a vacation that got cancelled last-minute, so you can stay with me for your initial recovery.”
She says it all without batting an eyelash, and Santos tries to remember whether concussions can cause hallucinations.
