Summary

Eddie moves to Texas and slowly but surely gains the trust of his son back. After 4 long months of long conversations and hard realizations, Christopher finally wants to move back to Los Angeles.
But what happens when they return and Buck is nowhere to be found, and nobody but Maddie is able to get in contact with him? What happens when Eddie finds out just how badly he hurt the love of his life, and now he can't tell him just how much he truly needs him to be okay?

When Eddie is placed into a medically induced coma, Buck receives the news that Eddie made him his power of attorney and Christopher’s legal guardian. Reeling from the news, he did his best to take care of Christopher and make Eddie’s medical decisions in accordance with Eddie’s wishes. If only the other people in Eddie’s life understood that, instead of challenging Buck at every turn.

When Childe lifts his focus and dares to look Kaeya in the eye, he’s smiling – not quite with the same smug expression as before, but a slightly softer one, sensual and inviting. His pointer finger grazes Childe’s thumb, but his gaze stays raised.
“I’m not sure whether you know what you’re getting into here, Kaeya,” he says. He lets his tone drop in pitch, and from the way Kaeya’s lashes drop with it, it has the exact effect he desires. “D’ya really think you can handle it?”
“You underestimate me,” Kaeya purrs.
“I’m simply warning you,” he says, giving Kaeya’s hand a squeeze. “After all, I’m quite good in a spar.”

On a typical day, Diluc would be quick to kick Kaeya out as soon as he took a single step into the tavern. But today was not one of those days. It wasn't a special day of any kind. Was it because of the natural allure and charm of the taller man of the pair who were clearly not from these parts of Teyvat? Or maybe he was just too tired to deal with Kaeya today.
One definite trait of Zhongli was that he was observant. A trait he had honed from watching over a city for thousands of years. And, of course, the acts of kindness from a certain bartender did not go unnoticed.

It's a miracle Buck doesn’t pass out on the spot.
He takes a stumbling step back into Eddie’s room, somehow managing to close the door quietly in his haze. Although it’s entirely possible that he just slammed it because he can’t hear anything over the whooshing in his ears.

One time Buck and I signed up for this pen pal program, but the kid in Maine I was writing with gave up after two rounds of letters. It was during my ancient Egypt phase and I think I scared him off with my questions about mummies. Buck told me I was too cool for him anyway.

Buck nearly choked. “Why? Why… what? I mean, I’m bisexual, if that’s what you’re—”

“I wanted to tell you this differently. Preferably while you were conscious, but I’m still having a hard time not talking about it with you.” He brings his hand down so both hands are holding Eddie’s. “I’m pregnant, Eddie. We’re having a baby.”
As soon as the words left his mouth a stray tear slipped out without him even realizing it.
This hurts, telling Eddie this way. None of this is going how it should. It’s unfair for the universe to punish them this way, he thinks. They’ve both dedicated their lives to helping people, and this is how they get repaid? Seems unfair if you ask him.
