Mello was actually great at ignoring his feelings. He was great at ignoring his Catholic guilt when he kissed Matt, great at ignoring his crush when he studied, great at ignoring his inferiority complex on Sunday morning.

Summary
‘Let’s have a sleepover.’ Matt told him casually one rainy afternoon.
Instead of the excitement or enthusiasm he had hoped for at the suggestion though, Mello looked at him as if he’d just suggested they should volunteer to do the dishes for an entire week for fun or something.
‘You want to invite other kids over to our room?’ Mello scoffed, his face scrunching up in disgust or displeasure.
And honestly, fair enough. The thought of bringing other kids into their room didn’t appeal to Matt either, so he kind of understood Mello’s reaction. If he assumed that’s what Matt meant, then it was no wonder he’d respond like that. Perhaps he was more open to the idea if he understood properly.
‘No, I meant just the two of us.’ Matt clarified, his tone hopeful.
Now, Mello just looked puzzled.
‘You want to have a sleepover.’ he said.
‘Yeah.’
‘With just the two of us.’
‘Yeah.’
‘Matt, we’re roommates.’
---
Or: Matt doesn't know how sleepovers work. Neither does Mello, but he's a little too proud to admit that. (They make it work in the end).

Summary
Mello isn’t a patient guy.
Matt knows it. Near knows it. Roger knows it. Heck, everyone at Wammy’s House knows it. Even kids who have only just arrived tend to be confronted with Mello’s impatience-induced rage sooner rather than later.
(Matt would use the phrase “everyone and their mom knows it” but given they’re at an orphanage, that particular idiom does not seem appropriate).
Whereas Matt has his games to pass the time and keep him from going insane, Mello doesn’t have anything similar. He turns into a fidgety, prickly, agitated ball of chaos for as long as it takes to get to The Thing™. When they have to wait for their turn with one-on-one assessments, when they have to wait for dinner to be served, when they have to wait for test results…
Mello isn’t good at waiting around for anything, period.
---
Or: Throughout their life together, Matt helps Mello deal with his impatience and restlessness by being both a menace as well as a loving boyfriend.

No, killing homophobes does not make you the gay version of Kira (because Kira was already gay) by purplesan

Summary
‘You shouldn’t have stopped me.’ Mello snarled as they walked – or more like stomped, in Mello’s case – away from the bar they’d been kicked out of mere minutes before.
For totally unjustified reasons, Matt had to admit, because it shockingly hadn’t been them causing trouble for a change.
(Okay, they hadn’t been the ones who’d started it, but that still counted. It wasn’t their fault that some people took offence to seeing two guys kiss, now was it?)
‘I mean, I would have been fine with you throwing a few punches, but you were about to pull your gun on him, Mells.’
‘So?’
‘Need I remind you we’re supposed to be keeping a low profile?’ Matt pointed out. ‘We should be enjoying ourselves, not blow off the head of every homophobe we come across.’
It was tempting, sure, but that wouldn’t make them much better than Kira, just with a different target audience.
‘Maybe blowing the heads off of homophobes brings me joy.’
‘I’m serious, Mello.’
‘So am I.’
---
Or: Mello practises self-control by not shooting a homophobe in the head, and Matt rewards (annoys) him with humour afterwards.

Summary
About a month had passed since Thomas first learned about Craig and Tweek's relationship. His disapproval of their relationship still remained strong, as he struggled to accept his son being gay. Despite witnessing Craig's genuine affection and romantic attraction toward Tweek through multiple occasions, Thomas couldn't come to terms with it. He just couldn’t see his son loving another boy.
Through many attempts, Thomas tried his best to find the secret behind Craig and Tweek’s relationship. He couldn't help but feel suspicious about all the new changes in Craig. Thomas knew it was up to him to break the couple apart.
But with time, and with acceptance, Thomas began to see how much Tweek was changing Craig for the better. From changing his attitude, and even taking up new hobbies, Thomas could clearly tell how much Tweek meant to his son. He began to realize everything that he messed up on, and was ready to embrace a new Craig.(TLDR: Thomas tries to stop Craig and Tweek from dating, but ultimately fails.)
