Sasha wakes up empty.
She stares at the paint lumps on the ceiling with her mouth agape, frozen and still like a corpse. There’s this hollow feeling inside her, all-consuming and hungry, as if someone had stolen her insides and replaced it with thin, freezing air.
Her heart hurts. Like an invisible hand was squeezing it, wringing it of the blood and love, and then the tears come—they slide down from the slope of her eyes and burn their way down her cheeks, her fingers curling against the cold sheets, lips trembling as her mind replays the worst parts of the dream—linen cloth against the sharp, steel sword. Imagining her palm swiping against its sharpest parts, crimson blood dripping into the soil, Anne’s words, too sharp and too cold, I want nothing to do with you—
or, more than a decade later, Sasha gets the very same nightmare that has always haunted her sleep and wake.

She was okay. She still coughed flowers and she essentially stopped talking at all, the vines, roots and thorns still dug at her skin like razor blades everytime she tried to speak. She would still spit blood with petals whenever she coughed and wasn't able to eat much solid food due to the small cuts the thorns caused in her throat. However… It was getting better. At least that's what everyone said.
