It’s more socially acceptable in high school. Stan has to drink more to get drunk which makes him win all of the dumb drunken competitions their class gets up to at parties. Stan will go shot for shot past Kyle, who only participates out of spite and a need to chase the dare. Sure, Stan’ll end up drunk, but there’s no way he’ll let himself be the first one. Passing out is for pussies, blacking out isn’t.

Stan shuffles, turning toward Kyle. He's facing away from him, his deep breaths evident through the sheets. He smells faintly of mint, though Stan's sure it'd be a much stronger scent if he were actually facing him. Kyle always applies an excessive amount of mint chapstick before going to sleep. Stan knows. He hates mint, but that distinctive smell of it lingering on Kyle's lips in the morning always makes him wish he didn't. Stan gulps, hot and and thick and uncomfortably running along his Adams apple. He always wondered if he would like the taste if he got one lick of how it tasted straight from Kyle's lips. Would it open his eyes? Would he suddenly realize he's been missing out on mint for years, or would it be something he already knows in the back of his mind, distantly?

After Stan goes viral online for a song that paints Kyle as the reason their friendship nearly imploded, Kyle decides to to finish the job and ends the friendship completely. Stan doesn’t have time for him anyway with his overnight success leading to a record deal and consequently a tour where he’s opening for the biggest pop sensation in the last ten years.With Kenny’s wedding coming up, the two of them have to learn to put the past aside in order to be there for their mutual friend. It shouldn’t be too hard to get along for the summer. But when they end up settling their differences a little too well, Kyle and Stan find themselves attached in a way neither one of them could have ever imagined.
