As wartime birthdays in outer space go, Lance is having a decent one so far. But his friends seem to be keeping something from him, and he can’t figure out what it is until Red shows an interest in a visiting Blade ship.
“Keith!” Lance beams, not fully able to believe his eyes. “What are you doing here?”
“I heard a rumor it’s July 28th somewhere, and I happened to be in the sector.” He shrugs, unable to subdue his own smile; it merely takes on an adorable coy quality. “Thought I might as well drop by.”
“Hey!” Pidge complains from the doorway. “Don’t discredit the months of work it took for us to orchestrate this. All that planning, and you’re still late!”
“We’ve been stalling for hours, man!” Hunk’s laughter betrays his feigned annoyance. “Did you at least bring the candles?”
“Sorry,” Keith replies, eyes never really leaving Lance. “I got held up, routine mission turned into a hostage situation. You know how it goes.”- OR -
mid-season 6, Keith returns to the castle of lions to celebrate Lance’s birthday. It’s supposed to only be for the day, but a series of strange coincidences keep preventing him from leaving...

“Aw,” the druid coos, “So much fire. So much rage in that trembling heart of yours. It’d be a shame if I simply quashed it, wouldn’t it?”
Keith stares straight at the druid. He bores his eyes into the shine of its face and looks his reflection dead in the eye. “Fuck—you.”
The druid tips its head all the way back till its face is far out of sight and it laughs. It shrills and twitches and ticks and shakes. “So much fire!” It shrieks. “So much fire and it’s—”
The druid reaches forward and wraps its long fingers around Keith’s face. They’re like icicles searing his skin with blinding cold. It might’ve drawn blood. He doesn’t know.
“—all gone.” The druid faces him again. “All gone.”
Keith shivers under the touch. He doesn’t understand. “What?”-
A Blade mission goes astray when Keith has an unfortunate run-in with a druid. He falls sick soon after, and is handed into Voltron’s care until he recovers. While he’s there, he contemplates his place in the universe, the depth of his illness and its mysterious connection to Lance, and why he’s not getting better.

Summary
“Do you ever think,” Chan begins, voice barely audible, “that some people are just meant to love more than they’re loved back?”
Hyunjin pauses, then nods softly, eyes thoughtful. “Yeah… I guess sometimes that’s true.” He shrugs, a small, rueful smile playing at his lips. “But that doesn’t mean that some people don’t care, yeah?”
Chan swallows hard, smiles like he swallowed glass. “Yeah.”
His answer must’ve given him away, because Hyunjin’s really looking at him now, gaze lingering longer than it should. Another beat passes. And Chan can tell Hyunjin knows something’s off. Maybe not the whole picture, but still something.
“Aye, hyung,” he says quietly. “It sucks you feel like that. But… you’re not invisible, y’know? Besides, most people aren’t that clueless.”
Except maybe you. Chan thinks affectionately.
Some truths were never meant to be corrected, only accepted.

All the oxygen was sucked from the room. The air cold, and, suddenly, the feeling of this person's arms all too intimate. Hyunjin’s eyes narrowed in incredulity.
“I thought you were dead.”

It has been two years since that day, the day when Chan and Felix were swept away by the horde. Hyunjin has done his best to move on, to accept that they are gone forever, but all of that crumbles when one, and only one, familiar face from his past reappears wide-eyed and desperate for affection.

Summary
When Jaeyeol saw Jisung round the corner of the restaurant, his face brightened like it was the sun itself. He looked truly dazzling, dressed to kill. Or to steal hearts. When his eyes fell on Minho, his expression only shifted slightly, a flash of confusion, then annoyance, before settling carefully back into a calm smile.
“Jisung, good to see you again,” he beamed. “You too Minho sunbaenim. Sorry, I didn’t realise you were coming, I’d have gotten a bigger table.”
Minho didn’t miss the lack of honorific after Jisung’s name. Just how close were these two?
“No matter,” Minho said brightly, “I can squish in next to Hannie.” He pulled up a chair, dragging it so it was as close to Jisung as physically possible. Their thighs pressed under the table and their shoulders grazed.
“There,” he said, smiling sweetly, "problem solved."
Minho and Jisung have always avoided any 'feelings' that might be between them for the sake of the group. But when a swoon-worthy newly debuted idol confesses his admiration for Jisung on national TV and pursues him, Minho does not take it well.

Minho closed his eyes, guiltily giving in to feeling all the feelings and desires and wants that he hid from Jisung and his friends, his family and the whole world. He gave in to the feeling of Jisung’s whole weight against his body, the boy’s chest rising and sinking pressed close to his, his breath on his skin, their skin together where their arms and legs met. Minho got to feel it all physically now, but he couldn’t allow himself to give in to the fantasies crowding his brain, of what this could be if Jisung was like him, if he could feel the same.
Or, Minho doesn't dare acknowledge the feelings he has for his best friend, because Jisung isn't like him.

Hyunjin, Jisung, Felix and Seungmin are training to debut under JYP while trying to control their magical abilities without passing out or setting a building on fire. Things suck, until one day, they don't.
Without really knowing how it happens, they find themselves adopted by some guy named Bang Chan. This is apparently a common occurrence. At least they're not forced to overwork themselves anymore (and maybe they get some comfort and cuddles in the process, so it's not like anyone's complaining)

"I hate it when you talk like that," Jisung said, frowning.
"Like what?" Minho inquired, a challenging bite to his voice.
"Like we're a team," Jisung muttered. The words stung, but the look on Jisung's face told Minho he hadn't meant for them to hurt as much as they did. He just looked exhausted. "Neither of us have ever fought another elemental before."
"That's not true," Minho pointed out. "We fought each other once."
"That wasn't serious," Jisung protested. "You just really pissed me off. We weren't actually trying to hurt each other."
Minho hummed in affirmation, but couldn't resist adding, "But it was still fun."
Jisung shot him a glare. "This isn't the time for that," he huffed. "We might really be in over our heads this time."
Or, Han Jisung is a light elemental, beloved by his city. Lee Minho is a shadow elemental who hides his identity for his own good. Jisung loves Lee Minho but hates his alternate identity, and Minho just wants some freedom. But a turn of events forces them to work together, for better or for worse.

Sunghoon balks, and in his state of panic burns his tongue over the ramyeon. Heeseung stiffens beside him. "I'm not sure what you mean." His voice is guarding, defensive.
Jay scoffs, and sends a look over to Jungwon, who purses his lips. "What we're trying to say," Jungwon ventures, "is that you guys need to come clean about your...feelings."
Sunghoon swallows hard around a stinging mouthful of broth. "There aren't any 'feelings'." He looks back at Heeseung, who nods sagely, face unreadable. "What he said." And Sunghoon feels the ramyeon churn uncomfortably in his stomach.
It wasn't like Sunghoon didn't notice that he held Heeseung in a completely different light than the others. Sure, the excessive physical contact was skeptical to some, the late night talks out of the ordinary, the constant want to be encompassed by each other's lives a little much for the rest of the members to comprehend. He simply refused to look too close into it, because there was nothing to look at. They were just really good friends.

“Jisungie keep you up?” Changbin grinned, and the harsh fluorescents overhead caught in the corners of his mouth. “Does he kick?”
Minho glanced up, and his glare must’ve been harsher than he meant it; Changbin’s joking smile faltered in a blink. Minho softened his gaze with a shrug. “Couldn’t sleep,” he lied, and the rumble of his voice through his head hurt.
This migraine was a bit worse than his usual, but he could—he would—get through the day. If that meant lying to the others, then so be it. When the day was done, he could take some painkillers and sleep the rest of it off. Until then, he would be fine.
Changbin tilted his head. “You look like Channie-hyung,” he said, thoughtful. “Doesn’t suit you.”

Jisung looked right at Minho and the older one reciprocated, staring into his eyes. That immensity of brown looking at him with warmth, honesty, assurance.
“And with me.” Jisung said low.
Or: Minho has four days off from military service and asks Jisung to come with him to his family house. Things get clearer after that.
