Tim hates this—not knowing what’s wrong with him, feeling like he isn’t fully in control, like he’s a liability. It’s a relief to get back in the Batmobile at the end of the night, even with Bruce watching him like he’s trying to visually dissect the problem. At least if it turns out he’s been exposed to some new drug or toxin somehow, Batman is already on the case.

Other people close enough to talk to meant danger, a kind of danger his body, high-strung and restless from living on the road, couldn’t bear. Unbidden, he heard himself growling all the time now: the low, discontent rumble of hunger or discomfort, the hackles-raised rising warning of leave me alone, fuck off, and the all-out teeth-bared snarl of don’t touch me, get off, let me go!

Karim had of course learned in school that they needed harsh treatment and punishments, but he just couldn’t bear the thought. Perhaps he was a bad master for that, but looking now at the shivering thing lying prostrate in front of him, he couldn’t find it in himself to change his mind.
This poor creature didn’t deserve an ounce of cruelty.’Or: Karims uncle dies and his very unprepared nephew inherits a traumatised boy who he doesn’t know what to do with. Hurt/Comfort ensues.

Was it childish? Sure. He was almost seventeen, he wasn't supposed to need his daddys around for everything. And he didn't need them.
But, God, had he wanted them more than anything in that moment.
Hitoshi returned late from patrol utterly exhausted and missing his parents desperately. Unable to think straight he found himself crawling into their bed instead of his own before he could think better of what he was even doing. When the two men arrived home to find their space had been intruded upon, they actually had quite similar reactions: acceptance.
Better to embrace their stray finding refuge in their bed rather than let him wallow in his own teenage angst.
OR
Hitoshi indulges in his desire for closeness with his parents by sneaking into their bed while away. He falls asleep, gets caught, and snuggles ensue as they always do.
