Vox never told Alastor that his name used to be Vincent, because if he had it would have been pretty easy for Alastor to realize that the demon he was talking to was his son. Whatever equilibrium they had gets knocked asunder when Lucifer decides to take a swipe at Alastor's parenting by using his relationship with Vox as obvious evidence of his failure.

War takes a heavy toll on all involved, Vox is no exception. After the events of Vox's breakdown and surprise beheading the Vees realize that he is in far worse condition than originally thought and they need to reattach him to his body. The only problem is they need to replace his head too. Do an unforseen accident while he is downloading his memories Vox forgets everything after 1965.
Or; Vox is in worse condition than expected and the Vees have to replace his head. Unfortunately things go wrong very quickly and when Vox wakes up he still believes its 1965.

All of those desires were driven by a wretchedly vicious insecurity that would either forever hold him back or finally trigger him to snap.
He wanted Alastor, too. It was obvious in the way he'd lean in close after a drink or two, the pink flush climbing high over his pale skin. His gaze would linger distractingly on Alastor's mouth, his neck; would dart down between his thighs as though he didn't quite dare.
And that was a problem. Vincent was no use to him unless he learnt to dare.

Alastor shuffled the cards with an air of smugness. “Should I re-explain the rules so you can continue your failure on your own merits, or would you like to keep playing like a boob?”
“Boob? What are you? A child?” Vox’s face had flushed a fetching shade of blue, indigent and embarrassed. One of his favorite expressions on Vox.
“Better a child than a boob.” Alastor sing-songed, just to push. Electricity sparked between Vox’s antennas, his expression pinched. He looked like he might blow a circuit.
“Better a boob than an outdated, self important, relic.” Vox bit out.
