Summary
“No,” Azrael says. “I want to talk about Alfira. About what I did to her.”
“That was the parasite,” Wyll says, but his face is conflicted. Frowning, now. They were all so eager to imagine the best of him that night.
Fortunately, it’s a flimsy excuse, one that Azrael should’ve torn down long ago. “Why only mine, then?” Azrael snaps. “Why not yours? Or Shadowheart’s? Why am I the only one with a murderous worm in my brain?” It isn’t the parasite. Azrael is made of emptiness and blurry memories, but he knows that much for certain. “There’s something wrong with me. I need you to swear that you’ll stop me, if it comes down to it.”

“Senator Organa, actually,” the princess says, arms crossed and chin tilted up in a way suggests this isn’t the first time she’s had to remind someone of this. “And you’re the infamous stray we’ve picked up, I suppose.”

Summary
Ilya wasn’t trying to kill himself that night. Suicide is something that belongs to his mother- he’s just lazy, and he wishes Shane would stop making excuses for him.
Shane has everything under control. His body is a tool, the one that’s given him both his career and his relationship, and he wishes Ilya would stop prying into the way he maintains it.
or: Ilya learns a whole lot more about his mother, Shane remembers a whole lot more about his childhood, and they both get diagnosed.

"Rozy," Brian, the team doctor says, "talk to me, buddy. That puck clipped you pretty good, how’s the pain?"
Ilya blinks. He clenches his jaw against a wave of nausea. He rests his cheek on the ice, and the cold helps a little.
"Bad. Very bad." He swallows. "Is Shane here?"
