There's not a whole lot that Natasha has ever struggled to do on her own. It is with great pride that she upholds her community, be it through her free services or through channels of Wildfire - never has she slowed down to think about what she could be capable of with a few extra hands. “C’mon, princess!” Dean stopped under a streetlamp. “You want a royal invitation?” His ears were stinging. The cold gripped him, making his head ache. The halo of light made the sideways flakes whipping around him glow gold.
Sam didn’t respond. He kept shuffling forward. Head bowed, hands crammed into his jean jacket. He was too quiet.
“Sammy?”
He finally made it into the glow of the streetlight. Still no answer. The light flickered above them. Sam looked up.
There were marbles where his eyes should be. Glassy, unfocused. They almost looked—Dean’s breath hitched. Yellow.

Summary
He tells his big brother what he wants to hear, how could he not? He tells him it’s okay, and that he can go, but he’s clinging to Dean the way he did when they were little kids, crossing the street and looking both ways. Hopes that his desperation makes Dean change his mind, that he’ll say, “It’s okay Sammy, I’ll hang on.” But he doesn’t, just holds Sam tighter and tells him goodbye.
This is not how it’s supposed to go.
Sam barely remembers helping the kids out, he just remembers the way Dean’s skin was cold to the touch when he got back. He lifts Dean off the rebar and Sam can’t stop the intrusive thought of taking his place, it’d be perfect, Dean could go live the life he so dearly deserves. But it’s not perfect, and Dean’s blood dries onto the leather in the backseat as he drives them home.

Summary
Life is hard when you’re a street kid. It’s even harder when you’re also deaf. Though, Jason guesses that he’s not technically a street kid anymore, not since he’s made that mistake of jacking some billionaire’s tires and got himself kidnapped.
The man... Bruce, doesn’t seem to want to hurt him, though. He feeds Jason and goes out of his way to communicate with him. He even offered to teach Jason sign language.
There’s a price to pay, he’s sure of it, but Bruce remains as kind and nice as always.
