Instead of running back to the Tundra like Jonah expects, Peter bashes Jon over the head and brings him out to sea with him. Apocalypse averted, world saved, and most importantly Jonah Magnus punished for stacking the deck during their wager.
Peter never had a pet before, but he's certain that looking after the Archivist is exactly the same thing. He just needs to keep his new cat fed and entertained. How hard could it be?

Jon can't focus. Tim's grinning face and good-natured chatter fill him with too many contradictory emotions. At one point, Tim nudges him a bit, bumping their shoulders companionably, and Jon isn't sure whether he wants to finger-comb Tim's hair or take a swing at him.
(There's a cowlick sticking up at an awkward angle from the otherwise impeccably-gelled top of Tim's hair. The sight of it is making Jon unreasonably upset. Jon needs to get to his office quickly, before he commits an act of workplace harassment.)

Jack hated his orders as the unkillable nanite monster himself carefully climb onto the bed over him. Reaper was a seven foot jet black quadruped with a bone white mask resting on his face and a maw with way too many teeth under it. He was like a bear with how much he towered over Jack, the bed frame groaning from their combined weight as Reaper’s claws pressed down on either side of Jack’s head.
For a humanoid that held the highest bounty in several galaxies, he was surprisingly easy to track down if you challenged him to a drinking contest with shots. Even funnier was Reaper showing up and actually taking him up on it.
