Summary
It takes less than day for a father to be lost and a brotherly bond to be severed. But when the catalytic event that altered the course of three lives changes, history is no longer the one we know, and a new one unfolds. One brother pays the price for unfulfilled ambitions, while the other battles shifting loyalties. In a distant land, a father gets a second chance at life, though he doesn’t yet understand the consequences.
Basically, I took the Drake attack and changed one key thing: Kaeya arrived in time to join the fight. This isn’t fully canon-compliant as the theories I rely on for the basis of this plot will most definitely be proven wrong in the coming updates but eh, this is just a self-indulgent fic idea I always wanted to read but could never find, so I’m going to do my best to create it myself. Tags will update as the story progresses so things aren’t spoiled right away.

“I’ll be back in the office by the end of the week. There’s too much to do and not enough Knights to deal out the work to.”
Diluc let out a small huff and sat back down in the chair. Odd, there was no returning grumble about the Knights’ inefficiency. Something else was on Diluc’s mind, Kaeya just didn’t know what.
