Summary
In an attempt to steal information from Tony Stark's brain, the villains of the week accidentally unlock the memories Tony lost after deleting his mind. Now he remembers everything, but it's all fresh and raw and without logical order. Worst of all, he remembers Steve dying, but has no recollection of him coming back. As a result, seeing Steve just makes everything worse, and the memories Tony has of their recent relationship make no sense and drive him crazy.
Consequently, Steve gets banned from seeing Tony until he gets better and it's Rhodey who gets to be there for his friend while Tony struggles not to fall apart. Steve, meanwhile, gets to deal with the media, who have just now learned of Captain America and Iron Man's romantic involvement. It is not something he excels at.

She was finding it hard to look at anyone who wasn’t Gwen.
She was dancing again, her hands in her hair, keeping it up in a blond pile on top of her head and leaving the graceful curve of her neck bare. Ostensibly Flash was dancing with her, but he—understandably— seemed mostly content to sway at her side, drinking her in. Every line of her body seemed to catch the light, fractured as it was into different hues by the disco ball above them. Like some kind of silver fish, gone rainbow in sunlight through clear water. Her dress shifted over her fishnets at the thigh and MJ shifted in response, as if she could feel the contrasting textures against her own skin, cool silk against taught threads.
And Peter, Gwen’s beloved boyfriend, was talking about Ned Leeds.

“How’s the kid’s treatment going,” House asks, pretend-light and clearly uncomfortable. Chase can feel his voice rumbling against his chest. “Are you crying?”
The words get stuck in his throat. He opens his mouth and catches the tail end of a whine between his teeth. House startles at the noise.
“Should we be worried about you killing another kid?” House makes a humming noise. “Probably cheaper to take you off rotation for a month than deal with another lawsuit. Cuddy will agree.”
“Screw you." He tries to put some steel into it, but his voice sounds pathetic.
“Sucking up only gets you far if the suckee is alive, you know.”
“God, you’re an asshole.”
“Another quarter for the blasphemy jar.” House isn’t pushing Chase away, some hidden background process in the back of his brain pipes up. His hands are still hanging limp by his sides, and it’s like hugging a piece of dry driftwood, but Chase can’t let go. “You’re doing a lot of crying over an asshole. You’ll put Cameron out of a job.” He turns his head at the end of the sentence and his warm breath tickles the shell of Chase’s ear.
