Summary
This story follows the book universe (both CMBYN and Find Me) for the most part, with a few nods to things that happen in the film. So the date is 2005, 18 years after the summer of 1987. Elio is a concert pianist, living in Europe, and Oliver is an associate professor of Classical Studies at Columbia, in New York City. Oliver and Elio are estranged, having fallen out of contact after Elio’s visit to Oliver’s university three years previously. They meet once again on a cruise in the Aegean Sea. They also meet a number of other people—all original characters for this story—with whom they interact in a variety of ways. These individuals may be “minor” characters, but they are very important to Oliver and Elio.

Summary
It has been three years since they were outted and Henry and Alex have finally settled into a groove that works well for them, except for the fact that it feels like they're always having to steal time together.
