Jason had taken some time to himself after the confrontation with Joker & Bruce. He’d managed to find his own team and was doing great. He didn’t need any of the so-called family that he’d left behind. But, that didn’t stop the siren’s call of his home city from pulling him back for a visit, alone, or the practically inevitable reality that trouble found him immediately.
Because that was obviously his luck.
He couldn’t deal with the aftermath by himself, couldn’t risk spilling secrets to his subordinates, and he couldn’t call the Outlaws for help in Gotham of all places so soon after they’d decided to take a break. The last thing he wants to do is rely on Batman & whatever he's got going on these days while drugged up on some alien truth serum, but it’s not like he’s got much of a choice.Bookmarked by tiptapioca

Summary
There was silence, heavy and dangerous like the sword of Damocles, where nothing moved but the heaving of Jason’s chest under Dick’s hand. Jason stared unblinkingly at Bruce, ready for more yelling, cursing, a slap, maybe a hit harder than he ever did to Joker. Bruce slowly raised his hand to his face and wiped the spittle away.
Bruce looked older, Jason realized distantly. He hadn’t noticed before, mad and raving as he was. But Bruce looked old.
“Jason, I would have given everything up if it meant keeping you alive.”
Forgive him robin, curl up under Dad’s wings. Don’t fight dirty little robin.
“Then why didn’t you.”

Summary
One thing that Jason learned quickly after moving in was that Bruce Wayne was awful with words, sure, he could strike terror into a man's heart by saying only a simple phrase, and could trick a bunch of socialites using a flashy smile and a way too long story about an exotic fish. But the man couldn't turn his emotions, his true emotions, into words to save his life.
Jason, on the other hand, screamed what he felt until his throat was hoarse, he would try, again and again, to explain himself, to make Bruce understand him. Jason found words fascinating, they had power.
