Summary
Wei Wuxian gets caught sneaking into Cloud Recesses.
But since he can't tell the truth - that he's just here to deliver his teacher's most recent love letter to her soulmate who's stuck in a cave - he tells a lie instead. He says that he's a Jiang disciple that had arrived late and so had snuck in through the gates. He hadn't expected the lie to work, sure that it would unravel as soon as they found a Jiang to verify it, but instead Jiang Yanli backs up his story, and even adds to it.
Which is how he ends up masquerading as the first disciple of Lotus Pier while trying to figure out how to get out of Cloud Recesses without anyone discovering that he's the disciple of Baoshan Sanren.

“No,” she told the goose firmly. It regarded her with one baleful, shiny black eye for a moment, then resumed pecking the glass. Katy slammed the curtains shut. She could hear an indignant “HONK” from outside. She crossed her arms and scowled.
Katy was way too old for this shit. She’d always assumed she was one of the 60% or so of the population who didn’t have a soulmate, and never had to deal with the accompanying goose, which by the way was supposed to be snow-white and covered in the softest down, not a bog-standard Canada goose with a mud-colored body and a serial killer’s temperament.
Anyway, she was not meeting her soulmate today, she didn’t believe in soulmates anyway, she was polyamorous and ought to by all rights be exempt. It was probably just a regular goose that got lost on its way to shit all over the golf course.
