Summary
September 1982
The war is over. Voldemort was defeated on October 31, 1981. Regulus Black discovered Voldemort’s horcruxes and informed the Order of the Phoenix, which destroyed them. When Voldemort arrived on Halloween to kill baby Harry, the Order was standing by, ready to kill him first.
Almost a year later, the Marauders and their friends are rebuilding their lives.

"You will not believe this, Lily" Sirius gushed immediately. "People here just expect for you to waiter their drink over to them. Like it's some grand restaurant or something. I mean, look at that dude there!" (He pointed at Remus.) "Called out his name twice and he still didn't seem to get the message. I had to walk over to give him his drink. He didn't even apologise!"
Lily stared at him with wide eyes.
"What?" Sirius asked.
"Sirius, Remus is deaf" Lily whispered.
"What?" Sirius asked.
"He can't hear" she explained.
"Yeah, I know what deaf- ooh" Sirius realised. "I fucked up, big time."

Sirius meets Remus in a pretty embarrasing situation, and quickly realises he wants to make it better. Maybe he even goes over the top, but he doesn't mind, and neither does Remus.
