Summary
Aziraphale had left London at the end of July, promising to call and text every day. It was a bit earlier than he normally returned to the Pole, but he’d begun growing into his winter size prematurely and couldn’t risk anyone noticing the changes. Crowley had seemed sound in their decision, sad to see him go but convinced that he was right, they were still so new.
It took barely two months for them to realize they’d been completely stupid to think the distance between them wouldn’t be too great to handle.
Yes, Crowley belonged at the North Pole indeed. By Aziraphale's side, melding into all aspects of this side of his life. It was a change, but a good one for them both.
The ancient magic that swirled the Pole and connected Santa to the land seemed to be in agreement.

It takes a few tries to get a half-decent latch, but the baby still won’t firmly suckle, and Crowley is beginning to feel sweaty prickles of overstimulation at the back of his neck. The residual contractions, the tireless hands on his tender belly, the baby’s mouth fumbling at his chest. His mind is everywhere all at once, and the hazy smears of color from before have brightened and sharpened into vivid contrast. He closes his eyes, angry with the hot tears burning at the corners, and lets the baby rest in the cradle of his arm between attempts at suckling. He bears down despite it all, trying to push through the feeble spasms, but still nothing comes.
“Angel,” he says after a while, throat tight. “Aziraphale, listen to me.”
“I’m here, sweetheart,” Aziraphale says, still gently pressing against the demon’s womb from the outside. “What do you need?”
“I know we didn’t really plan for this part of the process, but you’re gonna have to go in there and fish it out,” Crowley says, swallowing and squaring his jaw to deliver the final blow. “Manually.”
