Both of them were silent for a moment, and this was unnatural. Even if they claimed they weren’t talking to each other, they always spoke; the words were just more distasteful than usual. Now, they were enveloped in a charged silence, and neither of them knew what to do with it. Scared to touch. Scared to do anything at all.
“Do you ever…” Lightbulb said, but after her last question starting with this, she seemed more hesitant to say it. So she didn’t, and Paintbrush silently pleaded for her to continue.
Silently, because they could not find it in themselves to break this silence. This silence that meant something.

“…Alright, does someone want to tell me what the fuck is going on,” Paintbrush yelled sternly, rubbing their temples to stave off an incoming headache.
“THERE’S A DEMON! THERE’S A DEMON IN THE DORM PAINTBRUSH!” Fan screamed, pointing his lightsaber (where did he even get that?) at the floor, swinging it around and nearing throwing it several times, his grip on the handle unsteady.
Paintbrush turned their attention to the end of Fan’s lightsaber, and on the floor was a small Cellar Spider, not completely motionless but certainly not hostile.
I should’ve expected this, Paintbrush thought hopelessly, rolling their eyes. I am rooming with five-year-olds.
