Summary
After the scuffle at the Tomb and the escape of blonde bombshell Barbenheimer, various factions race to the Mithraeum to see or stop the devouring of John Gaius, the Kindly Prince, Necrolord Prime. Tower Prince Ianthe Naberius takes Crown Him with Many Crowns along for a ship ride to where she will no doubt end the two entities she will surely surpass, and make a new world from new ashes. Crown has some things to say about the kind of world she wants, and she's not unused to asking favours of her sister.
Alternative summary: Ianthe is a power-hungry, soon-to-be world-devouring bitch of a sister and Coronabeth thinks she can work with that.

Summary
The crazy thing is that Harrow doesn’t even like her, the occasional blip at the sacred pool notwithstanding. Gideon dies for her – a stupid ordeal all around, the least said about it the better – and resigns herself to the Underworld, and that’s supposed to be that, right? Harrow isn’t supposed to come after her. Not till she dies herself, and Gideon is hoping that’s a long way off for a lot of reasons. She deserves at least a few decades without Harrow, after what that woman put her through.
But come she does, with her stupid furrowed brows and haughty chin and clomping step. With sculptor’s fingers and artist’s eyes and that same old obnoxious confidence in her own brilliance. Harrow bulldozes her way to to the Underworld and stands before the throne of the God of the Dead, running on the fumes of her own manic determination, and demands Gideon back.
And the Lord of the Underworld, John Gaius himself, says, “Wow. Let me think about that.”

It’s rare that Ianthe meets someone who recognizes her power. Very rare. By design, Corona is a glorious smokescreen. People want to believe in Corona, and look past the gaunt twin. Wouldn’t one rather have a small, clean-cut diamond rather than a lump of unrealized coal. Nevermind that the coal houses potential for a diamond five-times the size of the little, carved one on display.
Harrowhark Nonagesiumus, necromancer of the Ninth House and Priestess to All Things Drab, does seem partial to the color black. Makes sense she’d know to look at the lump of coal rather than the shiny, distracting diamond. Harrowhark knew power.
She knew Ianthe. From the moment they met, Harrowhark’s furtive, paranoid glances landed on Ianthe. Those dark, beady eyes looked her over with a knowingness that set Ianthe on fire.
What a fascinating, fascinating woman. Ianthe wants to eat her alive and savor the taste of her bones.
OR, Ianthe makes eyes at Harrowhark at the anniversary dinner of Magnus and Abigail and pines in the most Ianthe-way possible.
