Summary
Everyone is born with a red string tied around their ring finger.
Taehyung included.
But he scowls at his string every once in a while. Cries at it, screams at it, pleads with it, looks longingly at it—and since it cannot be cut nor destroyed, he tries to unravel the knot too.
Of course it doesn't budge. It wraps around his finger, a mock of a ring, extending out of his farmhouse, across the road, into the rice fields, and up into the sky, shooting up towards the stars.

“I am Haenim, but I was given a name by your forefather that I have grown fond of.” The voice introduces and something begins to slot into place in Taehyung’s being.
“What did my ancestors call you?” Taehyung asks, the beating in his ears drums louder. He knows, he knows. His soul knows who this is but he has to hear it from Haenim himself.
“Hoseok.”
Taehyung accidentally summons an ancient demon called Hoseok, who demands a soul in exchange for his services, but Taehyung proposes marriage instead. Hoseok agrees and now Taehyung has unwittingly acquired himself a demon for a fiancé.

“Take me home, Taehyungie.”
The Bartender jolts at the mention of his name. Greedy, greedy eyes soaking in the way Hoseok's lips form the syllables.
Hoseok might be cruel. He feels like it sometimes. Having rarely called the Bartender by his own name. He's always called people by their designation or title. He didn't want to become attached. It was easy. Guiltless. It kept Hoseok sane.
But in this moment, where his sanity is strained and fragile, pulled taut close to the point of ripping apart by The Curator and The Owner, Hoseok thinks that if he has any hope of keeping it together, he has to become insane to stay sane. And to do that, Hoseok will use this man, if only to keep afloat. He isn't a manipulator. He's only trying to run.
“Please, Taehyung-ah.”
Hoseok is betrayed by his favorite patron, made to be a plaything, and even humiliated in front of the one person who loved him as he is. To erase the filth and hurt of the betrayal, Hoseok agrees to come home with the Bartender, Kim Taehyung.

"Oh no baby, shh, daddy's here. What's wrong baby?" Hoseok asks softly, panicked and feeling so many eyes on them. He tries to console his son who's crying loudly now, the sound of the class is replaced by the echoes of his cries. He's about to stand up and leave the class with Bangwon when a shadow looms over them. Hoseok looks up in surprise as Mr. Kim reaches down and gently takes Bangwon from his arms.
Hoseok takes his toddler to class because his babysitter is unavailable. It's all fine and dandy until his son starts crying, disrupting Mr. Kim's lecture.

It could be a superpower, an oddly specific one where he can see numbers from 1 to 9 on a person's forehead and that would equate to how dangerous that person is. Like say, his neighbor's newborn baby is a 2, the retired army veteran on the other street a 6, and one of his bestfriends, Jungkook is a 1.
Or, it's just some bug in the universe's coding that lets him see what each person's danger level is set at. Taehyung is just the glitch in the matrix.
