The one rule as a Hunger Games mentor is that you can never get attached to your tributes. The rule has to be tenfold for tributes from other Districts. And she’s barely seen much of Beau, not until tonight. Maybe it’s by design, the Capitol working to keep the Districts apart, push the competitive nature and animosity.
But there’s just something. It’s hard to place. Like a thread, delicate and fleeting, tying the two together. That perhaps Beau isn’t just going to be that girl from One who dies heroically but is forgotten years later after more Games come and go. Perhaps the little burst of colour in this artificial and bleak world isn’t going to fade like the rest of them.

Ampere Shapiro is not beloved. She understands, of course, that being overbearing and ill-tempered is the perfect formula to make an outcast amongst her peers, but she doesn’t particularly like them, either. She is also left alone by her family, which suits her perfectly fine, though it doesn’t help much in assisting with that constant obsessive itch in her brain.
Then the Reaping for the 61st Hunger Games is at hand, and becoming likeable is only the first of many obstacles ahead of Ampere. It certainly doesn’t help that she makes enemies with a charming crowd favorite on her first day in the Capitol.
But the Hunger Games is only one piece of her own personal, dangerous predicament. For in truth, Ampere fights towards autonomy over her own life in more than one way, and winning the Games may not be the resolution she’s looking for.
A sequel-ish and sister fic to Miscreant.
(A note from the author 3 years later! This fic is not done! It may not ever be done! I'm very sorry about that but the real world caught up after the pandemic let me do nothing but write for about a year.)

Summary
The 60th Hunger Games have arrived, and District Three has little to no hope for a win when fourteen-year-old Pixel Delaroux, one of ten children and a poor factory girl, is reaped as the newest female tribute.
Pixel, however, has no intention of actually going into the arena. Her history of petty crimes and easy escapes is going to make sure of that.
But the Capitol is an entirely different monster, one that District Three has not quite prepared her for. Pixel’s road to freedom is obstructed in every direction, be it Peacekeepers, Gamemakers, other tributes, even her own mentors. Should the worst happen, and Pixel ends up in the arena itself, she knows that it would mean her certain doom.
