    Hi Ilya,

My name is Shane! I don’t speak Russian, I hope that’s okay. I’m also 25 years old and I love hockey too! So we have some things in common.

I’ve never written an inmate before. I don’t really know why I’m doing this. I guess I’m lonely. I’m not very good at making friends or dating. I think maybe I can be a bit awkward in person, but I’m good at writing. So I hope that’s okay.

or Shane Hollander finds Ilya Rozanov on WriteAPrisoner.com and sends him an email.

    Summary

Shane Hollander was doing fine. He was about to start his fourth year at Concordia University in Montreal, where he was now Captain of the Stingers, he had a solid group of friends who actually knew he was gay and were cool about it, and this time next year he would be playing for the Metros.

    He was doing great, really.

Or he had been, until none other than Ilya Rozanov, the 28 year old KHL player who had recently disapeared from the world of hockey, became his professor and mentor.

or: Coach Theriault inadvertently sets up professor-Ilya and student/hockey captain-Shane.

    Summary

In 2003, Shane Hollander is assigned a PenPal, and gains a friend. A friend who smokes, calls him boring, and gives him ridiculous nicknames.

Across the world, Ilya Rozanov practices his English with a curious Canadian boy whose name he can't fucking remember.

Or, before they were Canada's Shane Hollander and Russia's Ilya Rozanov, they were Cat and Elijah. Shane has no reason to suspect his childhood PenPal is his hockey rival, and Ilya has never even considered that the man he's falling for is also the boy he already fell in love with through letters and postcards.

    Summary

Shane Hollander is the sole Omega within the NHL. He’s been running from his own instincts since the moment he first presented and lives his life akin to that of a Beta; scentless, never nesting, and without a heat cycle. Any failure to conform to these ideals would result in being outcast from his peers and by the league altogether.

Ilya is the only Alpha in ice hockey that plays without the use of suppressants. He lives his life purely driven by instinct, running from the ghosts of those attempting to control him. Unbeknownst to Shane, he’s also the only person that can smell the Omega, and the scent is steadily driving the Alpha insane.
