Summary
Mulder and Scully are taken to the Pacific Northwest to investigate a legend from the old Oregon Trail along with a sting of odd deaths. As usual, Mulder is quick to believe the legend about a spirit that could conjure a person's innermost desires and compel them to act. Scully of course tries to ground him in her scientific POV. Not to mention, Scully is mistakenly assigned a Honeymoon Suite which causes both of their wildest fantasies to unfold.

Apparently, the universe has decided that killing him outright would be too generous. So instead, he’s in a coma. Fully conscious. Immobilized for the first time in his life, Mulder is trapped in a hospital room with nothing to do but listen — to machines that won’t shut up, nurses over sharing, and one aggressively unfiltered intern who treats Mulder’s bedside like a confessional for every romantic catastrophe and contraceptive failure of his adult life. Mulder would interrupt if he could. Mostly to ask how this is still happening.
Then the room changes. Someone speaks to him carefully. Not like a chart. Not like a problem to solve. Like a man who’s still here. She notices things no one else does — old scars, bad healing, the quiet evidence of someone who treats survival like an inconvenience. He can’t open his eyes. He can’t answer her. He can hear her with brutal clarity. If he could manage 1 small rebellion — a twitch, a blink, the world’s most underwhelming wink — he’d take it. Turns out, consciousness is easy. It’s the eyelids that are insubordinate.
