“Oh.” And Will looks a lot more surprised at this, actually, than the idea that Mike might have just wanted to come to his room to make small talk about unseasonably frigid California winters. “Okay. What about?”
“Anything.” The response is embarrassingly immediate. “Everything. I don’t know. I missed you.”
Hawkins, 1986. The world is ending, there are too many people in Mike's house, and to top it all off, he and Will have some things to talk through.

Now, she's decided, she's not going to miss another one, and she's making it Dustin Henderson's problem.
“So, I guess you didn’t tell Hopper you were leaving,” Dustin spoke up, eyes shifting to regard the girl next to him.
“He wouldn’t like it. You will bring me back before he notices, though.” She shrugged, returning the small glance in his direction, eyes narrowing coyly as she waited for a response.
“Oh, will I? Didn’t realize this was a whole plan.” Dustin grinned, happy to play along.
Jane broke out into matching smile, rolling her eyes.
“Alright, Cinderella,” he continued, “We’ll get you home before midnight.”

Will burst into one of the most blinding, dazzling smiles Mike had ever seen. It wouldn't matter if they were on the darkest, cloudiest night in the middle of the ocean; Will was a beacon of light. Mike couldn't tell if there were actual stars in his eyes or if it was just a reflection, but it didn't matter. Will was too stunningly beautiful, and that look was too intense, and he had to look away as his stomach turned and his brain tried to come up with a generic response to whatever Dustin was saying on the radio. The past few weeks he had been desperately trying to convince himself that it was just his old crush rearing it's head. He had moved on from Will, really.
