Someone with enough money and so taken by Felix’s beauty, they would be willing to overlook his lack of proper dowry and humble background. His older sister’s marriage had allowed them some semblance of security but with her wife expecting a baby, the need to secure a match had grown ever more pressing.
Or - Felix goes to the annual courting ball hoping to secure a respectable match that will help to provide for his family . He could never imagine what comes next.

Felix craved him in some sort of carnivorous way.
Candied delusion. So sweet like sugar floss on his tongue. The rush of fantasy that urged his body to work, work, work in hopes for some sort of reward that may or may not exist for him.
Felix glanced down at his phone, the screen dark and reflective. That morning, he had made sure to style his long, chocolate colored hair extra carefully. Made sure to dab rose petal blush across his sharp cheekbones, and made sure his lips were extra glossed and extra pink. He even decided to wear his glasses more often to work instead of his usual contacts, simply because Chan wore the same type of glasses too, as if that would make Chan like him. He woke up so much earlier than usual to do these girly, almost middle school like things, because—
Well. He wanted to be extra pretty for Chan.
He wanted him to want him. Wanted to see his eyes linger and his mouth water in some sort of raw, unraveled way.

Felix sighed, brushing a solitary strand of sandy blond hair out of his eyes as he set his suitcase down on the front step of his porch. A relieved smile spread across his lips as he leaned forward and took a hold of the door handle, the door opening with a loud clunk as he felt the soothingly cold air from inside washing over his sweaty face. As Felix stepped inside, the relief of being out of the summer sun was almost instant, with a hand coming up to mop at his sweaty forehead, brushing some of the rogue strands of dripping hair out of his eyes as he revelled in the refreshing breeze of the air conditioner.
The house was near silent, with everyone out at work or running errands, leaving him to entertain himself for a few hours until he could catch up with his parents. He set his suitcase down by the door and made his way through the house, noting the small changes that had been made to it since he was last back in Australia. As he neared the kitchen door, he heard a loud clunk, donning a puzzled look as he went to open it.
“Uh- hello?”
